Rocky's - Hanmer

We visited Rocky's yesterday (early afternoon Wednesday July 5th) and can't say enough ! Jasmine our server was amazing ! Friendly, attentive, pleasant, very personable...service was awesome ! We sat outside on the deck and experienced the most incredible view of the lake while we had a couple of bevies and our lunch....chicken ceasar wrap and the legendary pickerel and fries...so GOOD ! Since it was mid-week it wasn't crazy busy but saw many boats dock and come in with children so the restaurant is family friendly. The only thing I missed was music outside on the deck but the natural setting and pleasant surroundings made up for it !! Would recommend visiting absolutely Summer or Winter :)))

My son and I had heard of Rockys through a close friend, who once guided large groups of snowmobilers, throughout Northern Ontario. It was described as a "Must Stop" destination. We sure are glad we did.We limped into Rockys, on fumes, and were immediately greeted by a wonderful, super friendly, young lady, who was very eager to fill up our sleds. She explained how the ownership had changed and how they were trying to make the place great again.After filling up we went to the dining room which overlooked Lake Wanapetei and enjoyed an amazing meal. The food was prepared fresh, arrived piping hot, and portion sizes were almost too big lol. Even my 14 year old could not finish his burger and poutine.It was our first visit, but certainly not our last.

It was an extremely busy day with snowmobilers. We waited which is to be expected but the food is pretty basic. The cesears are great though!

The last couple of times we went to Rocky's the service was something to be desired, but the signs says , Under New Management, so we gave it another try. We have always gone there for the Pickerel and fries and still the great taste of that is there , (would have like the little container of coleslaw filled up instead of half full as it was so good. )The service was EXCELLENT. Everyone around seemed to be enjoying the food. The hamburgers looked really good. Although it's a long drive in, the scenery is beautiful, specially in the winter . Even thought the restaurant was busy, we didn't have to wait too long till our meal arrived. We'll be back to visiting there more often again.

The service was exceptional, our meals cooked fresh to order and the menu choice is extensive - definitely one to try!So... Rocky's is out of the way... a long way out of the way - but the excellence of the location, the food and the service definitely make it worthwhile.The speciality is fish and chips and it is worth the visit just for that, the pickerel isn't fresh out of the lake, but it is Ontario fresh, the burgers are handmade in house and the turkey is home roasted. Additionally you'll find standard restaurant favourites so there is plenty to choose for everyone.Sunday's is apparently the big day, when an all-you-can-eat fish special brings in the crowds either arriving by road or by boat after a trip across the lake. The opening hours on the website need updating but those posted on Facebook are accurate - phone ahead if you want to be sure they'll be there when you arrive.
