Port City Java offers a mixed experience for visitors. While some praise its clean environment, welcoming staff, flavorful coffee, and pleasant atmosphere ideal for working remotely, others have faced inconsistent service and management issues. Customers report challenges at the drive-thru, unclear menus, and unprofessional responses when modifying orders. Additionally, unexpected closures and staff attitude concerns have left some disappointed. However, exceptional employees have made a positive impact on many, encouraging repeat visits. Overall, the café balances quality beverages and a comfortable setting with room for improvement in customer service and operational consistency.

We pulled up at 2p today—2 cars ahead of us and 1 car in the parking lot. We pulled up to the speaker and waited 5 minutes without even being acknowledged. After 5 minutes I said ‘hey there, we’re ready whenever you are’, thinking maybe there was a sensor not working. The lady said ‘ok and I only have 2 hands.’ Get a grip, lady.

That aside, I realized I had ordered a hot coffee instead of an iced one. Concerned that the employee might still be annoyed, my boyfriend tapped on the window to inform them before they made the coffee, but they didn’t acknowledge him. After a bit of waiting, they brought us our food, and we asked for the coffee change. The look on the employee’s face was not welcoming. Then, an older woman approached the window and said, “You changed your order?!” I confirmed that I wanted an iced coffee instead of the hot one. She picked up the hot coffee and said it had to be thrown away. I didn’t argue; I just thanked her. She continued to complain, so I thanked her again. I refuse to argue over something so trivial. If you're in the service industry, you should be prepared to handle the nuances of dealing with people. It’s a basic expectation that sometimes customers may need to make changes to their orders; it’s not personal. Honestly, she could have given away the hot coffee instead of wasting it. The entire exchange felt unnecessary. Whether it’s being short-staffed or other issues, it’s not hard to treat people with decency. It’s clear that this is the standard here, which seems to be set by the leadership or management.

Comfy coffee shop! Had a scone and a caramel latte.

Coffee was weak, didn't have packs of sugar or stir sticks. Unfortunately, wasn't impressed.

Most businesses want people to buy their product but I feel like they are super mad I came here at all. I would suggest going a little further down the road to the Porters Neck location, they have great customer service, always get my order right and arefast.
