We pulled up at 2p today—2 cars ahead of us and 1 car in the parking lot. We pulled up to the speaker and waited 5 minutes without even being acknowledged. After 5 minutes I said ‘hey there, we’re ready whenever you are’, thinking maybe there was a sensor not working. The lady said ‘ok and I only have 2 hands.’ Get a grip, lady.
That aside, I realized I had ordered a hot coffee instead of an iced one. Concerned that the employee might still be annoyed, my boyfriend tapped on the window to inform them before they made the coffee, but they didn’t acknowledge him. After a bit of waiting, they brought us our food, and we asked for the coffee change. The look on the employee’s face was not welcoming. Then, an older woman approached the window and said, “You changed your order?!” I confirmed that I wanted an iced coffee instead of the hot one. She picked up the hot coffee and said it had to be thrown away. I didn’t argue; I just thanked her. She continued to complain, so I thanked her again. I refuse to argue over something so trivial. If you're in the service industry, you should be prepared to handle the nuances of dealing with people. It’s a basic expectation that sometimes customers may need to make changes to their orders; it’s not personal. Honestly, she could have given away the hot coffee instead of wasting it. The entire exchange felt unnecessary. Whether it’s being short-staffed or other issues, it’s not hard to treat people with decency. It’s clear that this is the standard here, which seems to be set by the leadership or management.
My husband and I were excited to try this cute little place because I love coffee. He has a nut allergy so we asked the nice worker to check the croissant ingredients for any type of nut. We hear her in the back asking her boss and we hear the boss say?just tell him we are out?. The boss comes up to us and tells us very rudely they are out of croissants. Obviously she justdidn?t want to look at the ingredients for us. She was very rude and dismissive to us. All because my husband has an allergy. It?s awful to know that someone can?t take a few seconds to read ingredients for a customer with a life threatening allergy.Wish I could give 0 stars.
My experience at Port City Java was overall good, and the breakfast was amazing. Although, I am concerned with the staff there. There were two seemingly experienced ladies and one new young male. The experienced staff seemed to be pushy with him and onesometimes seemed aggressive with the new employee, even though he was doing his best to learn the job. When I gave my order heappeared very nervous and was given a lot of pressure by the other staff. If this continues the new employee may quit. I believegetting acquainted with something takes time and experience, if he is being treated poorly than he will not want to work there.I believe his name was Dylan, though I am not sure, and he was very polite and helpful. Please see to it that he is beingtreated well, it would benefit him and the business if the staff showed cooperation instead of oppressing the newer worker.Thank you.
