While some recent reviews have highlighted issues with food quality or pricing, overall, the restaurant has maintained a positive reputation. The extensive beer and wine selection, as well as delicious menu options like shepherd's pie and stuffed Yorkshire pudding, offer something for everyone. Despite occasional setbacks, Ye Olde Squire is a great spot for a casual meal with friends, especially for takeout during the Covid pandemic. The restaurant's strong points include accommodating service, great atmosphere, and consistent, satisfying meals.
Service is great and the food is average Irish specialtiesI enjoyed the shepherds pie and chicken pot pie several times here.
Stopped in for lunch during some soccer game that attracted a crowd.
This was our 3rd time back at this location.the second time we brought out of town people from Brampton, On.3 of us had the fish and chips with gravy and the other had the liver and onions.the fish and chips are always awesome and the gravy is top notch.the liver and onions was out of this world with a healthy serving of liver and a 'ton' of bacon.highly recommend both at all times.food is reasonable and the service is so........oooo goodenjoy! will be back many more times
Most pubs have now become blah, blah in food, beer and service quality. Squires was enjoyable for being one of the better pub places in the city.Service is friendly, accommodating and efficient from arrival to departure. Location is on the Mountains junk food alley (Upper James) so nothing special there. But they more than make up for it in inside quality. Highly recommend it. We had two large fish and chips (fresh top quality haddock), stuffed yorkshire pudding with fresh steak filling and french onion soup. All good. Oh, but the draft Guinness evaporates too fast, don't know what happened there.........
We both enjoyed our lunch. The waitress did not rush us as she saw we were there for a visit and gave us time to talk and enjoy our lunches not like some restaurants where they are taking your plate away even when you thought you might eat a little bit more
