What User doesn't like about Steve's Open Kitchen:
Went for lunch ordered hot hamburger with potatos got fries instead when I told her I asked for potatos she said we don't have potatos here.So I guess when I ordered potatos they had them but when I got fries instead then they didn't have them. Also my friend had fries and gravy as she was eating them she noticed a tiny piece of silver wire upon looking at it we determined it was from a pot scubber.Needless to say we... I love this restaurant! I've made it a tradition to pay it a visit each time I'm in Hamilton, and it's such a great way to spend the morning hours. The staff are so kind, the food is exactly what you'd want, and the atmosphere is impeccable. It feels like I'm walking into a small relic of the 60's each time I visit. I can't wait to revisit this place again!
FYI:Benedict peameal bacon is not available under the option recommendations tab (or I would highly recommend it).____________________________________Probably one of the best breakfasts in my life. The portioning was a little low for home fries especially if I'm paying over $16 for a breakfast plate with tip. However, The Benedict (peameal bacon) was perfect, juicy and flavourful, but the home fries were a bit on the harder side (if you like them that way or) ask them to cook a bit longer if you want them softer to chew. The service was really good. I haven't had a server on top of her game like this one in a long time. She asked if I wanted coffee right away and I sat there for less than 2 minutes before I was served. The place was also busy and the server was accurate, fast and had a wonderful demeanor that kept conversation to a minimal while busing and waiting, it really was a great experience and deserves more recognition (new servers take note or shadow this lady if you have the ability to). The waitress deserves more than a 20% tip for her charm and service if she waits tables like this every time and I spend around $30 with tipping the kitchen and waitress over 20%.It was hard to find, it's on a very busy steet. I walked past it twice and quick, and you'll have to park off a side street to walk over or get dropped off at front in the winter time especially if you're a senior. This place is the definition of a hidden gem breakfast spot, highly recommended, impeccable service.
The place has a beautiful vibe of a 90s diner combined with modern decor. Excellent for breakfast, I tried the ever famous eggs benedict with bacon and really loved it. Will definitely visit again and recommend to others
Tried this spot for the first time based on reviews. Anyone who has a single negative thing to say about this place is out of their mind. The old time diner feel is so refreshing and welcoming. The staff is incredibly attentive and genuine. You can tell there is a lot of love in this place. We got the classic breakfast and it was beyond flawless. The bacon, eggs, potatoes and even the toast was perfect. It was so delicious and the food quality was amazing. One of the best breakfast plates I’ve ever had and it was only $10! Can’t wait to come back for their homemade cheesecake ?
I don’t say this lightly, this is one of the top old school diner breakfasts I’ve ever had! The eggs were a perfect poach, the bacon was divine! The service was so friendly and warm…and the coffee refills just kept coming! Great portions and value. Loved the old school, family vibe! This is my new go-to for brunch in the Hammer!
