However, all of this comes at a price: two coffees and two slices of cake for €23.

We then had a... read more Hamburg's most expensive bread? We were there with our family, four adults, and asked for bread at the beginning of our order, which we received. We then had a good meal with main courses, dessert, and cappuccino. However, the bread appeared on the bill for a whopping 20 euros! We were convinced it was a mistake. The owner explained that it was 2.50 euros per person x 4 10 euros – but since one person had asked for bread again, it doubled – now 5 x 4 20 euros – so everything was fine – at least from the owner's perspective. Luckily, not everyone asked for more bread – we could easily have ended up paying 40 euros (or more). This must be the most expensive bread in Hamburg restaurants – we'll definitely be avoiding that in the future!
