I have never heard any complaints about the food, but apparently the barman 's... read more I often frequent this establishment, and was present when this harridan visited. I have never heard any complaints about the food, but apparently the barman 's (that 'll be the manager 's) explanation that the food is prepared freshly and to a traditional recipe (cream which has lemon added to it to sour it, with coriander) was not sufficient for this woman. She unfairly whinged about the the landlord 's dog online, but I have never had any problems with him he is certainly not an aggressive Beagle. The pub is indeed dog friendly, and I have found the staff to be most helpful all the time. The woman in question was rude, abrupt and very unpleasant. Her review mentions how she feels she was slighted, but doesn 't mention how she melodramatically stood at the bar and screeched at other customers how upset she was. To be perfectly honest, if there was a way to list dreadful customers on here, she 'd be on it. Stay in Newcastle, you gobby horror.

Sad that we got a parking ticket from an over zealous TW after only a few minutes. Amazing how two hours passed in Northallerton. Sad to say, lovely town but parking should be free. It (not the beer) leaves a sour taste. Nice selection of beers in tasteful bar .

Added tip to my card payment as I had no change and I really hope she gets it! Food was okay, beer I'm told was good! Place really let down on cleanliness, dust, dead flies and broken glass in the windowsill we sat by and toilets not great. A thorough clean and more staff would raise this place to outstanding.
