What Brian Rendon doesn't like about The Tare Shop:
This place makes me wish Frank magazine was still around to do an exposé on them.Begging for money every few months on social media, complaining about only having their employees wages covered under the covid small business relief plan, and I 've heard from multiple people about them not paying local suppliers, and it goes on and on. Incredible restaurant in the heart of downtown! Offering high-quality dishes and situated in a stunning setting.
Despite this disappointing experience, many positive aspects of the restaurant carried over from my first visit. The shop is absolutely stunning, both inside and out. It is part cafe, part store selling bulk foods. There isn't a lot of seating, but as long as it's not too busy, it should be fine. The small cafe has a nice selection of drinks and offers almond milk. They also keep a small variety of baked goods, and usually have at least one vegan option. An interesting fact is that they are a waste-free store, proudly displaying the plastic bags and coffee cups saved by shopping there. They also sell a good selection of eco-friendly items, such as feminine hygiene products, bamboo toothbrushes, soaps, and much more. The bulk foods wall features large glass jars filled with everything from beans to vegan cheese to pretzels and laundry soap. The store is clean and cozy, with plants scattered throughout, which I appreciate.

This store has so much: food, spices, toiletries, coffee... bring your own container or buy a glass jar for 50cents. Great prices and variety!
