What User doesn't like about The Press Gang Restaurant And Oyster Bar:
The location, waitress and the vibe is 10/10. But Huston we have a problem here. The ousters we ordered were ok, some of them were bitter, definitely not fresh. If you call your self an upscale place place be perfect. The calamaris were ok, but nothing special. Sorry if they don’t call themselves as fancy spot they would get 5/5, but they are not even close View all feedback.
The Press Gang is truly a standout culinary treasure that perfectly combines innovative flavors with a warm, welcoming ambiance. As soon as you enter, the friendly greeting makes you feel right at home, setting the stage for an unforgettable meal. The menu is a brilliant display of creativity, featuring a variety of dishes that delight the senses. Each plate is not only a treat for the taste buds but also a visual delight, demonstrating the chef's careful attention to detail and presentation.
The oysters are incredibly delicious—hands down the freshest and most flavorful I've ever had. Once you try them, you'll see I'm not exaggerating at all!
For our appetizers, we ordered the calamari, torched oysters, and Bulkeley salad. The calamari was fantastic, served with a tasty dipping sauce and a generous portion. The salad featured a delightful apple ginger gastrique dressing, providing both flavor and crunch. The torched oysters were a treat, especially since I had never tried raw oysters before; it turned out to be a great decision. For our main courses, we had the seafood risotto, which was packed with generous portions of lobster, scallops, shrimp, and halibut—absolutely delicious! The Atlantic halibut was also excellent, paired with cilantro lime quinoa and sun-dried tomatoes. The spaghetti aglio was flavorful, loaded with shrimp and scallops, while the beef tenderloin with tomatoes and potatoes was juicy and satisfying. To finish off our meal, we couldn't resist trying the mixed berry trifle and the cheesecake of the day, which featured stewed caramel apples and nuts. The trifle was divine, made with sliced berries, lemon-soaked ladyfingers, amaretto whipped cream cheese, and candied lemon peel—it was truly a dessert to die for! I had never encountered one like it in restaurants before. The cheesecake was equally delicious and offered a unique twist on the classic recipe. We also enjoyed the crème brûlée, which was very good. Thank you, Press Gang Restaurant, for a fantastic dining experience. If you ever find yourself in Halifax, I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try!
Beautiful interior and delicious food. The service was also very friendly. We ordered their unique the Drill , which is a 5 course dinner that changes daily. We got a variety of dishes such as mussel stuffed salmon, grilled scallops, duck, sorbet and much more. The dessert was way too sweet for us but everything else hit the spot.
This was my first time here and it was amazing, highly recommend the seafood risotto and the fresh oysters for a starter! You will not be disappointed
