You can't visit Halifax without trying a Donair! During my last few trips, I always ate at KoD, but since they’ve moved from that corner, we decided to try Johnny K. They didn't disappoint! Had a lot of expectations since it was listed as the second best in Halifax. Probably wasn't drunk enough, but the donair was small for the price, and it was barely enough for a meal. The meat and sauce was decent with plentiful tomato and onions. View all feedback.
Went here because it got good reviews and was not disappointed. Great donairs cant complain good price and quality. Simple and great!
Small place. We got takeout.the donairs were good and had a unique flavour ,not overly sweet or spicy. Lots of sauce,onions and tomatoes . We were happy with them and could see why they would be peoples favourites
Well I was so looking forward to a donair here after watching YouTube videos about eating in Halifax . The order process and payment was not smooth. The tiny table, although appreciated, as it was raining, was sticky and not great considering how cleaning is supposed to be increased during Covid-19. The Donair is okay but not worthy of high praise. Being from Montreal, we can get far better at KOJAX (mild sauce tastes very similar) If you 've never had donair then yes it 's very good. I feel like I 'm being unfair because my hometown has lots of excellent Greek, Lebanese and Turkish cuisine offerings. But that has made me more discerning. Probably good for a late night eat!
The veggie donair is fantastic with Seitan instead of beef. We actually liked better than the beef one as not a dry. The french fries are also great! New updated interior!
Johnny K 's located on pizza corner was the perfect spot for us to take our out of town guests for the official food of Halifax as we had a vegan in the group. I had heard they had a vegetarian donair available and we were very pleased at how accommodating they were to make that vegan. The traditional donairs had tons of meat and no one walked away disappointed.
