Forbidden City, located just off Spring Garden Road, has some of the best food I have eaten in a long time - and at the right price. Huge portions of everything you order. What User doesn't like about Forbidden City Restaurant:
They have consistently gotten my order wrong and most recently have been 45 minutes late (and counting) with my order. They often deliver my order in a dripping, Styrofoam container, in a dripping wet paper bag. I am done with Forbidden City Restaurant. I am going somewhere that values my business.. I find Forbidden City a great Chinese restaurant - the service is relatively quick, the menu is fairly large including lunch menu choices, the food is quite tasty and the portions are, to be honest, Huge. I cannot attest to how authentic it is but in terms of taste, portions and cleanliness of dishes it gets my vote. The food is fresh, The dishes I have had and those of my dining partners tend to have quite thick sauces compared to other Chinese restaurants - which may be why I find their food so tasty. Their egg rolls and spring rolls are mediocre. I have only dined there at lunch time - probably 4 or 5 times now and it has been consistently good. The restaurant appears to be very popular with Asian diners. I rated the restaurant as average - it is somewhere above average but not a quite major highlight.

We had difficulties in making choices of Chinese restaurant for the first dinner in Halifax. We finally went to this one since our hotel recommended it. It was really fabulous! We had the authentic food from our hometown in China.
Reasonable lunch speicals with large portions. Always hot and fresh and ready when i pick it up for take away. Cash and Pick up gives you 10% of the order. Very full and satisfied after every meal.
Authentic Chinese food, very reasonably process and it's absolutely delicious. This place is seriously I must try! Friendly staff too
