I was so excited to find this place, as all of their fish and chips are made gluten free, so they are safe for Celiacs to eat! The fish and chips were delicious and you would never be able to guess that they were gluten free. They also offer a lot of other options-including some gluten free desserts. I was told to check out evans for the fresh fish and what I got was the worst clams and chips I have ever had. Clams were rubbery, tasted old, and slathered in grease. I hope this was just a one off but damn! I thought it was against the law to serve fish that bad in Nova Scotia. View all feedback.

Hubby and I stopped in for a snack between brunch and dinner. We shared the 2 piece fish 'n chips. The service was very friendly and super fast. The food was hot and tasty and a good price. We'll be back and will order a plate for each of us and a slice of gluten free cake.
The lobster rolls are great and also the fish and chips. The location is convenient being in the building with the ferry terminal.
Don't be deceived by this little restaurant tucked away in the Dartmouth ferry terminal. They provide gluten-free fish and chips. They were flavorful, tender and delicate. The bread I g was looking gut and not gritty. The lobster roll was good, nothing special, but the seafood chowder was amazing. So much seafood in a delicately flavorful broth. Would order a large bowl and skip the lobster roll next time. Service is great and prices were very good. Definitely worth a ferry ride from Halifax. Would give 4 if it weren't for the fact that they are gluten- free friendly.
Evan's is a small niche in the Dartmouth Ferry Terminal. That said, it is our favourite seafood restaurant in Halifax. Food is fresh, well battered and delicious. It is a great spot, especially if you are gluten sensitive. You can also get fresh and frozen fish and shellfish to take home. Staff are the owners and helpful, knowledgable and friendly.
