Aug 20/23: Obviously Cousin’s Restaurant is more interested in their UHaul business than their restaurant business. Ordered lunch (hot turkey sandwiches) after 10+ minutes the waitress informs us that our order was going to take a while because they were serving a UHaul customer that arrived at the location after we arrived. Would not recommend this restaurant. ? ? View all feedback.
Maintaining a long-standing restaurant like Cousins is no easy feat, but they have done a commendable job of preserving its legacy.
It's disappointing to see how much this restaurant has declined since the pandemic. The food was very unappetizing; it used to offer some of the best homemade dishes in the North End just a few years ago. We were served a roll with green mold alongside the soup, and the butter tasted like it had expired last year. The sandwiches were burnt to a crisp, and the fish and chips were mostly greasy batter with very little fish. Additionally, our server had a strong body odor, and they didn't refill our water or check on us during the meal. To make matters worse, we noticed rats scurrying around between the tables. Overall, this family meal was an unpleasant experience.
August 20, 2023: It seems that Cousin’s Restaurant prioritizes their U-Haul business over the dining experience. After waiting over 10 minutes for our lunch order (hot turkey sandwiches), the waitress informed us that our food would take longer because they were serving a U-Haul customer who arrived after us. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant.
I ordered southern fried chicken, but I would barely call it edible— it was so tasteless and dry. The fries were undercooked, and the vegetables didn’t taste fresh at all. It felt like the food was leftover and just reheated in the microwave.
The service was quite good, but unfortunately, the food was disappointing. I couldn’t help but chuckle at the maple syrup bottle, which seemed to have been refilled a thousand times; it turned out to be just a cheap Walmart-brand syrup.
