We were visiting from out of town and stopped by for lunch. The location is great and the service from Madison was efficient and very warm and friendly. My husband and I both had the seafood linguine for lunch along with a glass of wine. The food was incredible! We will be coming back here in the summer when we visit Halifax again. I’m hoping Madison will be our server! Can’t wait to sit on the patio next time! Great... View all feedback.
What Lexus Beier doesn't like about Cafe Chianti:
Very disappointed..ordered the margherita pizza .. soggy crust .. topped with unripe tomatoes .. I was looking forward to having the pizza as ripe tomatoes right off the vine are readily available this time of year..overall not a tasty pizza.. partner ordered the special .. veal Parmesan .. very flavourful veal but pasta was too hotly spiced for the average palate..staff was very courteous and we had great service. We were a party of seven and received excellent service throughout the night. The homemade focaccia was fresh. My garlic shrimp appetizer was tasty and the perfect size. I can highly recommend the seafood linguine. Despite the fact that it was busy, it was fairly quiet and we didn't feel rushed. Everyone was truly impressed with the attentive service. We're looking forward to returning, perhaps for a cocktail in the well designed lounge.
We were looking forward to trying this restaurant as I had always heard good reviews but we left disappointed with both the food and service. The restaurant was not busy at all but they still seemed to be understaffed. It took a long time to put any orders in and even longer to receive the food (over an hour to receive our entrées). The calamari portions were small, soggy, and lacked flavour. While the plates were extremely hot the food was cold. It seemed like the food was prepared in advance and sat out until someone got around to plating it. We ordered a variety of pastas for our entrées and they were ok but not great. The gnocchi portion was small but others were average. All of them lacked flavour despite having nice descriptions on the menu. We gave our waiter honest feedback on the food and he shrugged and didn’t know what to say (we weren’t looking to get anything out of it but simply wanted to share feedback for the kitchen). While the waiter was friendly he seemed undertrained and inattentive. In the end, not the experience we were looking forward to. I hope for the restaurant‘s sake this was just an off night but I couldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
This has to be one of the best spots in Halifax for authentic, feel good Italian cuisine. If you don't get the arancini you're seriously missing out, and the roasted garlic pappardelle was delicious. Service was also phenomenal our waiter was very polite, prompt and made sure our glasses were always full. Can't wait to come back again! 10/10 experience.
We do not usually do reviews but feel that we must share what an excellent place this is to dine. We do not live in the city, so do not go often, but this is our favourite place in Halifax. When we arrived we were greeted by Kristy Sutherland, General Manager, who is very pleasant and attentive. She stopped at our table several times to check on us and chat. She is definitely an asset to the business!! Our server was Natasha who was also great! She was always close by if we needed something. We are boring but always get the same entree because they are so delicious! Seafood Linguine and Roasted Garlic Pappardelle. A bottle of McManis Shiraz topped off the evening!
The new location was a beautiful place for our anniversary dinner, first time at the new location. The food was delicious as always and the servers were great, making you feel special. Will certainly go back, it is still one of our favorite restaurants.
