Highly recommend. We came here based on the google reviews and were not disappointed! Small family run place with a traditional Japanese feel. The couple who run the place were patient and understanding of our lack of Japanese. My partner is veggie but eats fish abroad due to lack of options. This place had lots of veggie options and if you ask politely they will cook dishes to your needs. The off-menu agedashi tofu... View all feedback.
Absolutely loved the food here! It was our first time in Hakone and most restaurants were turning us away for dinner. However, we stopped by Futaba and were immediately welcomed with open arms! The owners and staff were so friendly, and made it feel like an authentic home cooked meal. I ordered the pork cutlet set (as pictured), which came with a miso soup and pickled vegetables. I also ordered the grilled eggplants. Both items were delicious. I would love to come back one day!

The off-menu agedashi tofu has been mentioned a few times in the reviews so we tried it....SO GOOD! the sauce it came in is probably the best sauce I've ever tasted. Delicious! ごちそうさま If you're in the area you'll regret not giving it a try. Easy to access up and down the mountain from the Ninohirairiguchi bus stop at the top of the hill and the train station (Chokokunomori) at the bottom.
A small and authentic eatery owned by a friendly elderly couple. Food is simple but delicious we had pork cutlet, fried white fish, tuna sashimi and cold tofu. There is just something special about eating in an unassuming, hole in the wall restaurant in Japan. Definitely recommended for a quick yet satisfying lunch. So reasonably priced as well!
Clean, warm and authentic Japanese restaurant. The shop owner lady there was lovely and tried to be as help to us visitors as best as she could. All the dishes were tasty and I could tell how masterful they were with the reasoning and the cooking time. Would love to visit again!
This quiet restaurant off the main road was highly recommended by the staff at our hotel/ryokan as being their favourite Japanese comfort food. I’m so glad we went as it was the most pleasant surprise. The menu had Japanese, Chinese and English with very fair prices. We ordered the tonkatsu, eggplant, gyoza, fried oysters and (off-menu the agedashi tofu (SO GOOD! . If you’re ever in Hakone, don’t sleep on this place.
