It looks like the best hotel in Haines Junction. Gwen was a friendly and helpful hostess. The rooms are large, clean and well appointed. It's right on the Alaska Highway but set back enough so that it's quiet, no noise from traffic. We found the breakfast a little unimaginative. Unfortunately, they no longer have a chef this year (2017) so the dining room is closed. If you're staying in Haines Jct., this is the place... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The Raven:
Rooms are decent and slightly larger than normal. However, I was believed by the Raven's Rest Inn website and the guests commented that breakfast included. At check-in I was told that there were only two nights reserved. What about that? Pay the same prices, but you get two breakfasts with two nights and zero breakfast with one night. As a result, I think that this place is overpriced and I will stay the next time so... View all feedback.
I usually don't write reviews unless I have something really good or really bad to say, but when I saw that Yelp only had 2 reviews for The Raven and neither had actually eaten at the restaurant, I knew I had to take action. The hotel itself is good, especially by Yukon standards, and the best in Haines Junction. But what really stood out were the dinners at The Raven. To say this is the best restaurant in town would be an understatement. It's truly top-notch gourmet cuisine. Chef Victor Bongo, originally from the Congo, infuses all his dishes with his heritage. The African Peanut soup is a must-try, along with the Moroccan lamb, fig and goat cheese souffle, lobster and shrimp cakes, stuffed chicken, seafood linguine, mushroom flatbread, cheesecake, and creme brulee. The prices are very reasonable, with a complete dinner for two costing just over $100 including tip. If you're in Whitehorse, it's worth the drive to Haines Junction just for this dining experience. And if you're already in Haines Junction, you'd be crazy not to dine at The Raven. It's a hidden gem that shouldn't be missed.
The Alaskan highway seems to be under construction no matter when you go through.
Very nice restaurant in Haines Junction, highly recommended!! Often full, requires reservation. Food and service were nice. Prices very reasonable.
The hotel was alright. We arrived at about 6pm hoping for dinner (as advertised) although we were told that the restaurant was closed for this season
Lynn is very caring and works hard to make your stay the best it can be. Rooms are EXTRA clean and the beds are EXTRA comfortable (looked like an almost-new mattress Even in the room was warm and comfy.
