The Book Club - Hackney

Ended at this club last night when we were turned away at hoxton pony for lack of ID even though we all look older. The staff were friendly from the bouncer to the DJ and bartenders. Such lovely people that take pride in their job. Absolutely had a great time here and will be back. Shout out to the MC he made the night fun.

Here’s the thing. I know bouncers have a hard job, you are dealing with drunk people, it’s unpleasant. Now, that being said they also represent the front of your establishment. It’s a balancing act they simply have wrong here. Aggressive and deliberately slow searches, rude discussion and general unpleasantness are a guarantee when you come here. This is supposed to be, you know, a place of fun? Why would I want to spend 7 quid on a bottle of beer, after a 15 minute wait, after such a negative bouncer experience. Go somewhere else.

I went to their Not Another Drag Brunch last Saturday and had a fabulous time. No pretence, the staff is super lovely and they really took care of us with a big smile whilst also keeping our drinks filled. Shout out to Jvst Tina the host and Dylan, one of the drag queens, who were just amazing. They perform but also come by to the tables for a chat. Would definitely recommend for a good Saturday outing with friends. The pizza were also good ! Probably the best drag brunch that i have been to in London.

Great place. Bar is a bit slow but great security! They made me and especially my girlfriend feel very safe, which is very rare in shoreditch. Definitely will be back!

It 's so refreshing to see several other reviews mention the power trip the bouncers for this club are on. The sheer rudeness and oh look at me, I 'm a tough guy trip was disappointing to say the least. Don 't even bother with this place, plenty of other spots around the area with much better people.
