The reasonable prices and welcoming staff make it a top choice for those looking for a taste of Mexico in New Jersey.
Went for Weekday Lunch Special Food 5/5. Tortilla chips were crispy and the salsa had a refreshing flavor with just a hint of spice. Burrito was rich and full of finely diced steak. I enjoyed the drizzle of sour cream, cheese and salsa on top as it added a nice creaminess to each bite. Beans were tender and the rice was fluffy and well seasoned. Service 4/5. Quick and friendly. Value 5/5. For $7.49 you get a big burrito, rice and beans and a drink of your choice. Awesome value! Parking Private Lot (Free)
I keep coming back! Been here many times over the years so that tells you something! First: Parking...they have a small lot which you can usually get a spot in. Only once was it full, but there is plenty of street parking available. Second: the place is authentic Mexican. Decorated nicely inside, a bit run down at this point but I think that only adds to the charm! Third: The food! I've never had anything bad. The guac (not pictured) is great. Even the complimentary chips (super crunchy and delicious) and the salsa are excellent. The churrasco is excellent as well. They usually cook it well done, which normally I would not enjoy but it is still juicy and tastes great. Have had enchiladas, etc before and you can't go wrong with anything you order. Finally: It is BYOB, which helps keep the bill down. If you don't bring with you, there is a local liquor store that will deliver while you dine. Just ask them for the number. They also will give you a $5 off coupon, which covers the delivery cost. Note: there was a $19 minimum on delivery from the liquor store. PS: They are very often on Groupon and Living Social. Definitely buy it for 2 or 4 people as it is an EXCELLENT deal!
A bunch of our friends were in the mood for some mexican food and noticed that La Frontera delivered so we all decided to give it a try. Before I go any further with this review YOU HAVE TO ORDER THE CHURROS! They are absolutely amazing and filled with a vanilla cream OMG! Now back to our food.. we ordered guacamole and chips, the chucho's fiesta platter, enchiladas suizas, 2 chicken quesadillas, 2 orders of churros with vanilla ice cream, and 2 jarritos. First things first they only brought us one order of churros and charged us for 2, the guac and chips were just ok to others I have tried. The chucho's fiesta platter that I ordered for myself was very bland over all, I was expecting more flavor. My boyfriend said that his enchilladas were just ok as well and also lacking flavor. Honestly the only thing I will be coming back for are those churros.
After getting tired and disappointed by the chains: Cheese Cake Factory, TGIF, Chili,s. La Frontera was a real nice change of pace, food was good and fresh. Portions was plenty. Will return
Worst waitress. Came for cindo de mayo the place is super small but there was a table available so we took it. That should of told me to leave the fact that u had a table available but I stayed. There's no liquor. The tacos are so dry you could choke. I asked for some limes and the Mexican crumble cheese and they brought me cheddar cheese. They had no idea what I was talking about. What type of Mexican place is this that u don't know what type of cheese I'm taking about. Anywho. . . Let's talk about the waitress with the curly hair. Started out nice. She forgot my drink so I reminded her. Then she brought me 1 of 2 appetizers and tried to bring out the second half way through my entree so I said no I don't want the guacamole now. She was like well it's already on ur bill. I said well I'm not eating it so take it off. Guacamole and chips is an appetizer not dessert lady. After that it went down hill. Gave us an attitude the whole time. I said thank u and she would roll her eyes at me. So needless to say, it's a hole in the wall with no liquor and it's not worth coming to.
