Cajun Grill - Gurnee

I have been coming to this restaurant my whole life, I remember eating here as a kid and now I am almost 20 years old. My favorite food places always seem to close down, usually small Chinese family-run businesses or Cajun grill places in malls. My mom used to chat in Mandarin with the lady at another Cajun grill place in Hawthorn Mall when I was a kid, but they closed years ago. It was my favorite food in the whole world. This place brings back those nostalgic memories and hits the spot for that kind of food. The owners are very welcoming and friendly, they are polite, quick, and somehow always understand what you want, whether you point or say something like "red chicken". They give you a generous amount of food, and the leftovers taste great when reheated. Unlike other fast food places, you can easily heat up your leftover noodles or rice in the microwave for a short time and then pan fry the meat to make it taste fresh again. You can get two amazing meals for just $14 if you add extra meat. Don't forget to tip because these people are amazing! <333333333!!!!!!

I found half of a toothpick in my meat at Kelly’s Cajun Grill. This incident has made me hesitant to return to the restaurant. I ordered Take-Out a few weeks ago and discovered the toothpick while eating the leftovers. I reached out to the Lake County Health Department for an inspection, but they found nothing wrong with the food. However, they did mention that toothpicks are sometimes used to provide samples to customers, and it’s possible that a piece of wood ended up in my food. I am concerned that this issue was not properly addressed and could have been dangerous if I had swallowed the toothpick. I hope that necessary precautions are taken to prevent such incidents in the future.

Food tasted good , charged $1.95 extra for the vegetables. Customer service can be better with a welcoming attitude.Located in Gurnee Mills mall food court.Food: 4/5

The shrimps are not cleaned correctly, it’s with the skin which isn’t edible, made for pigs. However the other food is good.

I have eaten there a dozen of times and never had bad food. Portion size is above expected. Definitely worth every penny!Food: 5/5
