Just popped in for a coffee... But wait... There's gluten free cakes!!! A Lovely long Mac & a delectable slice of gluten free carrot cake was enjoyed whilst sitting in the alfresco of a quaint 50's inspired tea room that is Maddy's..
I think a return visit might be in order for high tea. View all feedback.
What Jarvis Hane doesn't like about Maddison Cottage:
A few friends and I had High Tea one Sunday afternoon to celebrate an anniversary. We considered it very poor value for 38 for each person there were three little sandwiches, two minute quiche the size of 20 cent coins , a scone with jam and cream and three overly sweet little cakes and a cup of tea. The standard needs to be raised when charging this much money View all feedback.
Been here twice and had a great high tea experience each time. Food was quite delicious except the sweet treats are a touch too sweet for my liking. Lovely setting and atmosphere. Staffs are friendly too.
Very lovely staff, beautiful venue. If you don't come for the food, come for the general experience. It's really lovely. Tea was brewed Beautifully.. though I suppose you can't go wrong with tea leafs and water. The scons were large but.. really basic. The jam was lovely but the cream, so so. Had a lovely experience but the food is over priced and not worth the visit. However for a lovely Devonshire or high tea, definitely worth visiting!
I really wanted to enjoy my high tea at maddies I had arranged a high tea with my mum to celebrate a late Mother's Day but I was disappointed from the very start. Even making a booking was difficult having had to leave a few messages in then calling back again when they didn't return my call after 3 days. upon arrival there were four staff members by the front counter, but it took at least 4 5 minutes sanding there right in front of them all before someone acknowledged my existence. We were seated next to the kitchen door which kept swinging shut and had staff bustling about. the service was really poor for about 38 ahead I expected more. the food was ok, was missing the vanilla...read more
Our high tea experience was fantastic! This little French type restaurant exceeded our expectations. There was ample food and they accommodated our BYO wines they only charged 2 corkage each . The service was excellent and food delicious still thinking about it. One little let down was that the delicious teas were only one pot each. I would have thought that high tea had endless tea as all the other high teas I have been to previously. The best tea was the T2 French earl grey tea. That said, I would be excited to go back with my girlfriends!
That was okay. the service was very poor. book for high tee and paid in advance. it sat there for more than 20 minutes and was not even asked what tee we wanted. tried to win a waitress, but was ignored several times. finally had to go to the counter to order tee. if someone sits down, is it usual to ask them what they want to drink? 20 minutes later the food came out. a total of 40 minutes are waiting for food that should be prepared in advance as they knew we were coming. when we went to pay, we were hit with very confiscated expressions. I said I paid the other half of the high tee. not even a smile or thank you. if we have booked...read more
