What Johan L doesn't like about La Madia Di Giuseppe:
The interior looks nice and made us go for lunch when we walked by. We got cold lasagna, not homemade, but heaten in the microwave. Even that was too difficult, we had to ask 3 times to warm it again. Wine was horrible. You really have to do a lot of efforts to find a restaurant in Umbria that is as bad as this one. No proudness at all for food, just a tourist trap. To avoid ! View all feedback.
Strange to read the negative reviews and some of the comments. We found the place accidentaly on a hot July Sunday night, and stopped by for a quick drink before dinner sitting on the nicely set stairs of the street. The owner Giuseppe served us himself speaking a very good English! with some vines and some food. All was really good and the owner was very nice. Telling the truth, we did not visit the toilets, so cannot comment on that, but in Italy the toilet culture is very poor generally, so I would not be surprised if the reviewers were right about it. As we were the only guest at that time plus a bar owner from the neighbourhood, we enjoyed full attention of the owner, who had a mouth watering 1 pounder buffallo mozzarella with the other guest. After we finished, they advised us to go to for a dinner to Marco's restaurant the Alla Ballestra, which was a very good advice! Thanks Giuseppe, we will always remember the short time we spent at your place.
We came to Gubbio for a quick lunch and a glass of vino and found this lovely winebar that served a great selection of cold cuts, bruschettas and the local crescia. The two guys preparing and serving the food were very attentive and professional. Definitely worth to visit if you like authentic Italian experience far from banal tourists places.
This is a gorgeous wee spot to visit for a glass or two of wine and a snack. The owner doesn't speak English and we don't speak Italian but we still managed to communicate; he was really helpful recommending wines for us to try. We had the meat and cheese board, which at €20 doesn't seem cheap, but you get a solid amount of food with it to justify the price tag. It filled two of us up! All up, great value.
Absolutely a unique and fantastic experience, cutting of cheeses and sliced of a high quality, excellent wines, crescia and frittata al tartufo, premetto nn are a lover of truffle but the frittatina has made me think again. Mr. Giuseppe is attentive and caring, you see that he is a master in his work and when he brings dishes to the table describes them in details. and it's great to see him prepare the frittate. a unique and magical experience. when I return on holiday in Umbria I will definitely return
Memorable experience in characteristic local egubino under high medieval times. A wise choice of delicious meats and cheeses, irresistible with the warm 'crescia' brought on several occasions by the attentive, caring and ready to recommend a great red wine of montefalco. odorous frittatina very goose al tartufo cooked in a pan in front of you. what to demand more. simplicity and genuineness that are worth more than good a stop of refreshment degoting local flavors, ideal complement to a visit to the monuments and artistic beauties of the city. definitely advisable.
