We were looking for a good but uncomplicated Osteria and that's what we found. Friendly staff, very good portion and very good quality for the price. If you book a table in the back you'll also enjoy a great view with sunset. Only thing to be careful: they mainly serve fish and dishes from Tuscany, so if you are looking for a traditional Piedmont Osteria, you might want to look for something else.
We visited Penna Nera as a party of four and we found a good and uncomplicated menu of local cuisine as well as extraordinary seafood in a regions so far from the sea. The frutta de mare was superb and ample as well as the sea bass that was plentiful.. The black truffles and pasta did not meet our expectations. Local wine was available and very reasonable. In all a good dinning experience
Friendly staf, lovely food, best bistecca alla fiorentina in the area. Honest prices, beautiful view.
The Langhe and Roero region are famous for the local gastronomy. There are many splendid high class restaurants. In the smaller villages it is sometimes more difficult to find a normal simple meal when you travel around and get a bit tired of the gastronomy. So when you are in Guarene this family run little osteria serves a decent pasta and nice secundo. The local wines are good. Half the price of the more sophisticated options in the gourmetrestaurants.
