We were looking for a place to eat. From a tourist shop, they recommended a familiar restaurant called Alameda. It is situated near a park with a nice view. The first thing attracting the attention was a homemade pudding and a chocolate mousse cake at the entrance. There was no written menu, but the waiter enumerated a small list of dishes. The chicken soup (canja) had the right temperature and tasted of good chicken. For the secon plate we had monkfish with rice, delicious but a lot. The pudding and the cake were also delicious, not too sweet, something that is hard to find in the peninsula. Togheter with a beer and a cofee, two people paid 15 euros, much less than I expected.
You can sit outside in the esplanade and enjoy the view of an extraordinary and huge fountain dated from the XVIIIth century. The food is probably nothing of special but they have good wines.
Great place for lunch or just a coffee with friends or family. Good Portuguese food and children's menus. Unsurpassed desserts! Very good atmosphere and the decor is exceptional! Worth it!
Restaurante Alameda was recommended by our hotel for outside dining (we have a dog). We sat at an open air table, and were immediately moved under an umbrella because, it is to rain in 2-3 hours. Very considerate! There is no written menu; our server described the several dishes available that night, using Google a couple of times to clarify. We both had vegetable soup and a grilled meat plate of chicken and pork served with rice, hand cut fries and salad. It was delicious! We tried to decline dessert, but he encouraged us to try a house specialty pudding and we also had some fresh figs. Washed it all down with a better than average house wine, and the bill was less than 20 Euro. We expected double that! Delicious food, kind and efficient service, pleasant outdoor atmosphere. We couldn 't have wanted anything more.
