Our first sight from the station and it's authentic appearance drew us in. You sit in a special area for the fondues - must be the mess on the table covers, etc :-) A wide choice of cheeses and after we had settled a huge pot of cheese arrived with a burner, a mountain of sliced bread and good beer. A great atmosphere, very pleasant staff and great value. View all feedback.
What Letitia Marks doesn't like about Derby Hotel & Restaurant:
It is written outside : best fondue in town ...actually, the poorest raclette place in Grindelwald...so do not go there to taste swiss specialities ! Service is not good and food is not nice and tasty...our dishes were even dirty ! Avoid it... View all feedback.
Wir waren vom Hotel Derby aus 3x hier. Bedienung sehr nett. Käsefondues in vielen Varianten, sehr gut.

The Kellerlokal Cava, is a Restaurant located in the Hotel Derby, next to the Railway station. The hotel is quite nice, and the cellar where this restaurant is located is very well decorated. You really feel good while entering and think you will spend a...lovely evening. We ordered a Raclette...but when it arrived, it was not a proper raclette Just papatoes and 3 pieces of melted chease in our plates. The refill of chease arrived after 15min, and we had to ask 3 times for it. The waiters and waitresses were really useless; except the head of the restaurant who was very helpfull and was felling sorry for the miss behaviours of his employees . The people next to us were having a fondue...which was more a soupe than a fondue, the chease was too liquid, and it was not tasty at all The waiter were not able to speak switzerdeutsch...hardly able to speak HochDeutsch, a broken english...only italien was ok! hahahha I would definitively not recommand this restaurant.
