Walked up to the restaurant from Grindelwald a long walk but some amazing views when you get there and a welcome drink and sit down. or you can just take the cable car straight there!. View all feedback.
What Germano De luca doesn't like about Bergrestaurant First:
On a sunny winter's day, the views were just wonderful. We sat outside in the sunshine and enjoyed the buzz of this bustling place. We had lunch here, but I was unimpressed by the food choices, burger with fries, sausages with fries etc etc. Pasta with cheese and herbs (which I chose). All the choices seemed so heavy, and the salad bar was not at all inspiring. I could only eat about 1/2 of my lunch, hubby enjoyed hi... View all feedback.
I am originally from Switzerland and love to show off all the most amazing parts of this fine, but expensive country! I took my family up to First and we ordered from the restaurant while enjoying the amazing views. The lady at the till unfortunately took my order incorrectly and when I corrected her she rolled her eyes, tutted and laughed to the next customer. She had previously muttered some derogatory comment to the customer before me knowing that he didn't speak English. Come on Swiss customer service! You can do better than this! I know it's a small complaint but it's not necessary! Be polite!
The only thing that you would definitely like is the stunning views from the terrace on a sunny day! You can take a drink, which are not very expensive compare to some bars in Zurich. You will pay 5.80 CHF for a bottle of Moscht (Swiss cider) or 5.50 CHF for a bottle of beer. Various pastry and sweets are also available. We tried apricot pie with kind of custard or quark and it was ok. Unfortunately the apricots were not fresh but from jam.
Great place to stop for a coffee & cake! The walk round the cliff is simply stunning, you can see the whole region as you walk the platform and take in the landscape. Restaurant is reasonably priced & the cakes were ace. Not sure about the 23CHF for air though!
By the time we reached the summit we were ready for some food. We found the mountain restaurant to be just what we needed. The food was served cafeteria style and we ate sandwiches salads and berry pie. Everyone in our group seemed pleased with their food. All the tables outside with the good views were taken so we had to eat inside.
