The lunch buffet is very good. Several choices on the buffet, and in addition they serve a chicken dish at the table that is included and is also very good. We have been twice and will definitely go again. Very relaxed atmosphere. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Taste of Himalaya:
Very poor food quality. The vegetarian dish was filled wih cubes of carrots (which looked suspiciously like those from a frozen pack). The chicken dish, was tasty, but the chicken overcooked and had become "stringy" View all feedback.

We decided to give this place ago after having a fantastic Nepalese meal in Helsinki during a recent trip. How utterly disappointing our experience here was! Not only were the prices high, the service was woeful - first of all we were sat at a table that had been reserved for another party - even though it had a 'reserved' sign on it. It was the chef who asked us to move (and the chef had to leave the kitchen to deliver some meals). We had a bottle of wine but had to ask for wine glasses. The 'waitress in training' did not know the very basics of service. As for the food, well, it was disgraceful. The entree - vegetable samosas - were over salted. Even the yogurt topping was salted - why would anyone consider this necessary? When I commented to the waitress about this she laughed it off. I ordered a chicken curry as a main, but received goat instead. Whilst I was offered a replacement I chose to try the goat. It was completely uninspired. There was no depth of flavour and the meat was rubbery. Again too much salt. My partner ordered the Pork Belly. It was not pork belly, but pork chops. It was also not marinated as per the menu description, and tasted bland. It was inedible, so my partner went home hungry. The bread we ordered was oily and we suspect it was commercial. The oil on the bread tasted old. Very unpleasant. We had to complain strongly to be taken seriously and had a main taken off the bill. While appreciated, it did not change our view that we will not be returning to this establishment.
I am surprised at the negative reviews received by this wonderful restaurant. Most especially those that claim the food to be lacking Nepalese taste. This is the restaurant that the Nepalese diplomatic service and community use for their events and activities! I can only assume that these negative comments emanate from certain parties jealous of TOH’s reputation and standing in the community. I have always brought my visiting interstate friends to TOH and have always been warmed by their appreciation and satisfaction with this restaurant. I have been to the other Nepalese restaurant in Canberra only once and have left neither a negative remark nor a return visit. I guess that says it all. Remember, this is not a fast food restaurant. The meals are prepared individually and are not “microwaved” offerings like the other place. I give Chef Surya of TOH 5 stars for the consistency and authenticity of his Nepalese cuisine.
Really yummy flavors and lovely service. Full fragrant mains and delicious side dishes especially the eggplant & potato and cauliflower & green bean.
Recently, I went with some friends to this restaurant, and we were fully satisfied with the dishes prepared in this restaurant. We found they are authentic Nepalese dishes and reasonably priced given the quality of food. Most Nepali restaurants in Australia are more or less Indian oriented ones, selling oily and too much spicy Indian dishes on the name of Nepalese dishes. We did not find such thing at this restaurant. We ordered a platter of authentic traditional Nepalese dishes (Bada, choela, sekuwa, momo, radish pickle and flatten rice) as starters, and they were delicious, well prepared and good value for money. We took rice, chicken curry, goat curry and mixed vegetable curry as mains. They were yummy and did not have too much oil and sspices. The service is quite satisfactory too. We do not mind to go again for our small gatherings.
