The coffee is great, the food is great, staff are lovely. Only grumble is that we ordered coffee and pastries and took a seat outside. Pastries were sent out quickly but coffee took about ten minutes to arrive by which time the pastries and been eaten! Still good though! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Cafe Grey:
very nice coffee and great toasted sandwiches but issues with the service. our sandwiches were brought to us without our coffees, the girl who brought didn't ask if we had ordered coffees and when we went back to counter ourselves to inquire about it, we still had to wait and our food was cold by the time our beverages did came. there seemd to only be one person making coffee so i understand the pressure but i didn't... Beautiful velvet cappuccino excellent roasted sandwiches.
We had a nice tee and a cream and jam. very good value and friendly staff.
Came here after the bray to greystones cliff to foot. we had a flat white, a dark chocolate **** and tried some of their cakes. they can say they care about a high standard with their coffee the milk texture and latte art were beautiful. our favourite cake was the lemon and the blueberry. super moist and full of taste!
The order is out of any background in the reflective Kovid screen counter. eat beautiful. veggie, vegan option. the personal is nice and needs coaching. I think I understand the rustic hook, but my chair had no arm cover. it was until (dirty) foam.
This place has become a favourite of mine, since moving to Greystones this year made it my local! The coffee is great and whoever makes the pastries has to be at least part angel. The only thing the experience falls down on is the staff. At the weekend, it's lovely to get to sit out on the patio and enjoy the sunshine, but especially when the weather is good, the place is predictably chaos. It doesn't seem like short staffing is a problem, but while the team working weekends are more helpful than the very unhappy seeming older ladies that seem to work during the week, they also always seem lost and clueless, as has been noted in previous reviews. These last two weekends I've popped in, there seems to be some new faces; a very sweet and helpful blonde girl with glasses, and a tall blonde girl who was the only one maintaining order. Last Saturday while I waited for my coffee I sat and watched her dole out a line of drinks on the coffee machine (with amazing coffee art), direct the gaggle of girls standing around behind the counter staring into space or chatting, clean often two or three tables on her way back behind the counter, greet people and ring up orders, and talk to the customers and engage them kindly and expertly all the while when the rest of the staff seemed to be doing their best to avoid even eye contact with the people in line or waiting for their orders. You can't for one second fault the food or beverages and the setting is fantastic all the touches about the place are even great with the lovely take out cup designs, the prettily patterned teacups etc. Presumably it's something that I notice much more keenly because its my professional sector too, but the staff issue really is the only thing that lets this place down and it's such a shame. One other tiny thing I would suggest, is that they consider doing away with the laminated menus. I understand the motive, but the effect is that it looks cheap, when the cafe's theme is otherwise classy and sophisticated. Lovely spot, the best flat white in Greystones and the perfect place to people watch on a sunny day. So close to being the kind of experience you look forward to every time you go there!
