The service, decor and food is outstanding. My Moroccan lamb was tender and meltingly superb. Excellent wines by the glass. The restaurant has carpet on the floor, good background music and the tables are far enough apart that conversations don't intrude. A must visit when down that way (and a member of the Club). View all feedback.

We had average expectations when we went out for dinner at a club restaurant. We were not looking for anything fancy, just a good meal. Unfortunately, there were several issues that detracted from our overall experience. The service was slow and not very attentive, even though the restaurant was not very busy. This is where I go for an affordable special night out. Birthdays / anniversaries or just a nice quiet meal.
Peppercress is a relaxed and pleasant venue that we go on a semi-regular basis. Sometimes just as a couple, sometimes as a group - if you pick your night it is quietish and you can actually talk to all the people on your table - and sometimes for special events. The food is always good quality and with reasonable variety. The special events are great productions, with information interspersed with lovely themed food and a very lively atmosphere. The service has always been friendly and efficient, and some of the staff are stand out wonderful.
This is a gem of a restaurant. Who would have thought such a lovely retaurant would be in a club. The decor was upmarket and the food was divine.
We had average expectations when we went out for dinner at a club restaurant. We were not looking for anything fancy, just a good meal. Unfortunately, there were several issues that detracted from our overall experience. The service was slow and not very attentive, even though the restaurant was not very busy. We had to reorder some dishes because the kitchen ran out of duck and lamb shoulder, despite it being early in the evening. The pork belly was not cooked enough to render the fat properly. On the positive side, the wine selection was good and the portion sizes were just right. The desserts were well presented and delicious. I believe it may have just been an off night, so I will give them another chance.
Peppercress is about the only restaurant close to me that serves excellent food in a beautifully decorated restaurant. It is part of a club (Southern Cross) but has no relation to the usual dire Bistro food found in clubs."Led by Executive Chef, Anurag Gautam (recipient of two Michelin stars), the award-winning Peppercress Restaurant is renowned for its dishes, inspired from an imaginative fusion of fresh, local and seasonal produce."This is a quote from the restaurants web site and it is all true. Food is a joy to eat, good choice of wines and the staff are friendly and know how to serve food and look after guests. Not a cheap night out but its value for money and is always a very pleasant evening.
