I've been passing by this restaurant for over 20 years and finally decided to stop in. It's a classic diner filled with vintage decor. We were greeted by two delightful elderly ladies who served us with friendly southern hospitality. We both ordered cheeseburgers with onion rings, but they were out of French fries. This is a diner car from the 1940s. The burgers were quite good, and the fries were thick-cut with the skin on, although they had a slightly off taste—maybe due to old fry grease. My wife had the onion rings and said they were perfect. They also serve breakfast all day.

We stopped at Mel’s Diner on our way down to see friends in Manteo. It’s a cute spot where we were able to get a seat immediately, get our food quick, and enjoyed the friendliness of the staff there. Not expensive and great food is what we like. Go try it!
