What User doesn't like about Grand Banks Seafood Market & Bistro:
First and last time of trying this restaurant , first of all the server was too busy talking to the guys behind the counter she screwed up the order, even worse was when I looked in my box the chips were burnt to a crisp and the fish was really rubbery I thought it was a joke all in all it was disgusting and I wouldn't recommend it. This fairly new restaurant/seafood market was started by a couple of people from Prince Edward Island and it shows. Almost everything in the place is brought in from P.E.I. from mussels and lobsters and the potato fries to the very distinctive hot sauces they sell from the Island. We ate twice during our recent visit to Grande Prairie and both times we were impressed with the quality and flavor of the food. On one lunch occasion, three of us had their seafood chowder and thought it was superb; I even declared it my best-ever seafood chowder! One evening, we returned for dinner and several of us had their fish and chips which were excellent and their French fries were especially tasty. Their mussels were also very savory and succulent. Both times we were there, the restaurant was full, so we know that others have recognized this seafood bistro as a gem that's far from the sea.
I purchased some fresh lobster for Mother's Day. They were still full of life with long, pointed smellers.
Finally decent seafood in Grande Prairie. I had creamy mussels, seafood chowder, and fish&chips. Seafood chowder and mussels were very good. I sould've ordered a bigger size of seafood chowder. However fish&chips was mediocre at the best. There is a lack of battered fish..for the fish&chips...though the tartar sauce was very good. Overall it was very good and I will go back and will try other dishes.
Great service and food, being from the East, I appreciate the fresh fish they bring to GP. My only recommendation is that I wish the dining area could seat more people.
We went to Grand Banks for a casual meal and were pleasantly surprised. Fish and chips were good and excellent portion size. The fish tacos were also very good. Fried oyster appetizer was very tasty
