Our tour group took over this restaurant for lunch and it was a fun, friendly place. The food was pre fixe and all good great tapas. We also had musicians entertain us, but I'm not sure if they were arranged by the tour guide or if they entertained there on a regular basis. Great casual place to visit to get a taste of Spain. We were taken here as part of a group tour as a chance to experience Spanish daily life, or at least the tapa experience. It wasn 't quite the standing around boozing in a crush of nighttime revelers, but it was a very good variety of dishes in a cozy, eclectic cafe. People were very friendly and genuine, if not the most experienced or professional of staff, but the welcomness made up for it. Best of our dishes was the Berenjenas fritas con miel de caña (Crispy Eggplant with Molasses) and the Manitas de Cerdo (Pig 's Trotters in Garlic Sauce). I 've never had eggplant like this, it was shaved into strips, floured and deep-fried crisp, into almost nothingness, just an ethereal essence of eggplant, a little bittersweetness from the molasses accenting the savory dish. Really quite interesting. The Pig 's Trotters were braised in a thick, flavorful, black pepper-flecked sauce, enourmous, tender, meaty and full of chewy cartilage. Our large group had basically the whole place, it was too early for eating Spanish time (it was noon). We had a leisurely time eating and socializing, could get used to this.
Went there with our tour group and ate an assortment of Tapas. All were excellent. Service was good and the wait staff very friendly. If I ever was in the area again I would definitely go back.
I’d never have known about this fabulous casual café had it not been for the wonderful tour guide who scheduled a lunch for our 42-member group. The guide, Elena, wanted us to experience traditional tapas selections, all of which were wonderful. The good thing about tapas menus is that there’s a small portion of several items, sort of like a meal comprised of various appetizers. I don’t know about price, as the meal was included in the tour cost, but the wine flowed freely. The service—as well as the tapas selections—are phenomenal. Highly recommended to get a real “taste” (pun intended) of the local flavor.
