Cute cosy little place, 2 trains from home but worth the journey. Looking for a French restaurant in Brisbane and we found one! With the help of Ricardo (Matre'D) our experience was as close as we have come to France yet. Great food, great wine and excellent service, but in that European no rush environment. Great way to enjoy lunch. Really interesting escargot. View all feedback.
What Geo Gerlach doesn't like about Boucher:
I think I have to write this review, painful and with a heavy heart. the food quality is excellent, it is for this occasion a high-end restaurant and its bill will not come cheap. last night to find, they have confirmed a booking for 6 on the day 7:30 a.m. to find their table only for 5 so that the wait started already at 15 minutes before sitting. then to let the waiter come 15 minutes later water only offer, he wil... Pleasant ambiente none of the too frequent images of the Eifflel Tower, but, as a former reviewer noticed, the cute is sticky for a place that charges these prices. not much really french eating though bouillabaisse and closed briand feature and we heard...no francophon waiter but the service was pleasant and moderate and eating of a very good standard.
Twelve of us come every year twice together at boucher for a long and fine lunch. the waiting staff is fantastic, the wine selection is very good, and pet the cook is great!
Beautiful and romantic decor, weeping and eating is of excellent quality and service impeccable. recommend the chateau briand, order them before they arrive, as it takes the cook about one to half an hour to cook, but it is worth it.
So I visited boucher to see if it was the reviews. boucher lived up to expectation, eating was wonderful, the personal fantastic.
We arrived for the second sitting 7.30pm on Saturday evening, we were told that they first sitting had been late so can you please take a table outside. We went out in the cold heaters were not on and sat there for a good 15...mins no one came out to ask if we would like a drink. You couldn't if ask for a drink as the bar was full of dirty empty glasses. We then enough to sit at one of the bar tables which was empty but reserved for someone, as it was so cold outside. The waitress showed us to our table and informed us that there was no Beef Cheeks Left, as looking through the menu she came over again to say that they were also out of Bouillabaisse. We were given bread which was cold and hard not very tasty. For Entree, I had the snails and they were good, my Husband had the twice baked Souffle, he said it was bland. For main I had the Cassoulet which had duck confit, sausage but no belly pork, and it was all beans, no liquid just beans, very poor. My husband had the entree Seared lobe of foie gras, sautéed mushrooms on toasted brioche, pumpkin purée as a main course it was $32 dollars over priced for what he had on the plate that was for sure. For desert my husband had Apple tarte tatin Calvados ice cream, when it came the tarte was covered in Marmalade. We were celebrating our anniversary and we had driven to the venue from the northside of Brisbane looking forward to a French meal. Will not be visiting again. There was one bonus the waitress was lovely, friendly and attentive.
