The best Coorong mullett fish and chips ever. The fish was so fresh. My wife's duck salad with soba noodles was also brilliant. We tried other places in Goolwa but this was by far the best. Hosts were very friendly and we had a great view over the water. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Aquacaf Gourmet Cafe:
We had lunch at the Aquacaf today. I gather it had a good profile in the local area some years ago. Today it was basic with no refinement and no chef in the kitchen I suspect. My wife had salt and pepper squid which was very nice but with soggy chips and too basic a salad; at $29, certainly not restaurant quality. I had fish and chips - Corong mullet with chips and a similar salad. With one glass of wine, a large bot... View all feedback.

A beautiful setting on the river with an interesting menus. Dogs and children can play on the riverbank as the adults enjoy their lunch in a beautiful setting.
My city friends were very impressed with my choice of venue. Fantastic view over the lake, good food, excellent friendly service. One of my party was in recaptures over her lentil-burger.
Good location with indoor and veranda dining. Menu not very extensive, but adequate for lighter cafe-style meals. Meals aside, Aquacafe is a very good coffee stop. Easy parking on the roadside or in the adjacent carpark, but it can be quite busy on weekends when the adjoining boating clubs are holding an event.
Let me start by saying this was traditionally my favourite place to take friends visiting Goolwa for lunch. The setting remains perfect, however the food has dropped in quality considerably as ownership changes have seen the previous focus on seafood changed to a more conventional and overpriced modern cafe. Food lacks interest and there's a high degree of diversity in menu offering which is confusing about what the direction here is.......it's still called aquacaf but they serve lamb shanks....huh?Staff seemed grumpy too. Previously this place not only had great food but the staff were fun and had energy and passion. The worst thing about my last visit was the fact I ordered a negroni but the waiter delivered some other (fruity) cocktail in a martini glass. It gets worse - when I queried what this strange orange coloured cocktail was and cheekily asked if it was a mojito, the bar staff was more interested in arguing that it wasn't a mojito then conceding it wasn't a negroni. Maybe I'm still mourning the loss of the good old days, however there's too many things I don't like about the new aquacaf that we won't be going back for some time or until new owners take charge.
