I 'm almost hesitant to leave this review since my entire dinner was Chef 's choice . Everything was off-menu. It was sublime. The appetizer was whole, chilled shrimp cocktail. A crisp, refreshing starter with a bit of a bite to the sauce. The entree was a layered feast akin to a shepherd 's pie but without veggies. I counted four different proteins: andouille, quail, bacon, and shrimp. Mashed baked potatoes held it... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Gonzales Bistro:
Very disappointed with the food and service as opposed to the previous weekend. The coffee was lukewarm, the waitress brought us (a party of 4) one small container of cream, and a container with very few sugar cubes. We had to keep asking for creamer, which we shouldn't have had to do. The waffles were soaked with syrup, the portions of chicken were small, the cheese and ham sandwich was burned underneath. Great place for drinks and dinner. excellent wine selection and a lot of cocktails. enough to choose from the menu without being overwhelming. great addition to the Gonzales community!
I love Wednesday evenings in the bistro because I can discover their latest specials. I love the rest of the week, because I can revive these specials. for an appetizer, her suppe is white bean and speck, although it only hot comfort suppe. an absolutely delightful mix of navy beans with smokey speck, a few vegetables for health, a chicken broth basic and a weak shrunk cheese. I felt like in the toskana. indestructible, her best suppe still! it was so good, I had to take a pint to go at the end of the night. for a deer, elk steak. that was an experience. obviously the elch gras was fed, and the natural aromas of this diet penetrated by the flesh. it is also a very lean protein, similar in fat content to a bark fillet. other differentiators: elch has a very fine iron undertone, close to game meat, and is more earthy than bark meat. with a reispilaf on the side and a serving of haricot verts. the French green beans were so fresh and tasteful that they had 'd swear the bistro had a dachgarten. a note on the service on Wednesday: even at a party of 20 close to this party received from a (I) the same level of qualitatiw high quality service from the staff and the kitchen. kudos everywhere. You didn't hear it from me, but the word migrates tonight in the air. French chocolate truffles come soon?
The small, historic town is lucky to have this gem of a restaurant
This is a 5 star experience in a small town. Amazing food. Amazing service. Great ambience. Glad Gonzales has this!
Definitely order an app. Try a few of their special cocktails. Main course is definitely a treat. Serving sizes were perfect. Staff is well trained, there when you need them out of site when not needed. Reservations strongly recommended. This is three steps above any other restaurant within an hour drive in any direction. Please review the menu for pricing if on a budget, then know you get what you pay for. This is not fast food or bar grub.
