À faire View all feedback.
What Christina Lind doesn't like about Sovereign Hill:
on our last visit before, that was not too long ago. one entrance fee covers everything, now aside from pricey entrance fee, every other activities there on site attracts some smaller fees. well, not much to see inside. better visit the gold museum next door. View all feedback.

Sovereign Hill is a gem. I have never been to an historical park that has paid so much attention to minute detail. There are shops including an old fashioned bakery, a lolly shop, a haberdasherie, printers, there is an old fashioned bowling alley where you have to set up your own wooden pins, a candlemakers, a coffin makers, a wheelwright, and many more. The place is packed with things to do as well. You can pan for gold in a stream, go underground into a mine shaft, ride on a horse driven stage coach and poke your nose into old tents where the miners used to live. The theatre in the main street has pantomimes performed in the manner of shows from the late 1800s. There is music and soldiers in the streets and many places to eat. There is even a school where you can write with pen and ink. It is a fabulous place to immerse yourself in the rough lifestyle of those seeking their fortune in Ballarat in the late 1800s.
Sovereign Hill is an excellent experience for all ages. Great reenactment of the 1850's gold digging days and the lives of those on the gold fields and townships. All staff are dressed in period costume and very friendly and helpful. The demonstrations, shows and activities going on throughout the day are informative and fun. Delicious food in the Hope Bakery. The many shops depicting the stores back in day were done very well. Found Sovereign Hill to be quite authentic in its design and it does feel like you have stepped back in time.
Sovereign is wonderful. We had a great time at Sovereign Hill. Attention to detail with buildings and contents is great. Plenty to see and do. Enjoyed underground mine tour - very informative and interesting. Loved draft horses, costumes, characters and stage coach. Also enjoyed gold pouring, blacksmith and wheel making demonstrations. Stayed at Hotel on site which had beautiful rooms and lovely buffet breakfast. Only negative was Hope Bakery - pies and cornish pasties were hopeless - full of fillers and no flavour. Difficult to find any meat in them - probably a 2 out of 10. Only tasty thing was the pastry. Better hope you get a good one if you go there. The New York Bakery devonshire tea was OK. Scones were huge and they had real tea leaves in the pot not teabags. Very much appreciated. Waiter from Nova Scotia was very friendly. Highly recommend Sovereign Hill to anyone regardless of age. Will go back in a flash and stay longer if we get the opportunity but won't be buying a pie.
I had never been here before but was very impressed with this re-creation of a town in the 1850,sAll the workers kept in character and it is fun to join in with them. There are fabulous demonstrations regularly throughout the day. Eg: gold pouring, sweet making, musket firing and blacksmithing to name a few.You can pan for gold and visit a mine, you can also use your ticket over 2 days which gives you plenty of time to wander and enjoy all that sovereign hill has to offer.I enjoyed it and think it is worth the money especially If you can use the ticket over 2 days.Get into the spirit and enjoy.
