Apex is a cultural bar restaurant that includes performance and exhibition spaces. The bar restaurant area in smallish and separated into three 'rooms ', but also has a garden area that is open in summer. Apex has an air of intimacy, but the tables and not so close...together as to feel crowded or you need to whisper. There is a good selection of beer on tap and in bottles, as well as wine including by the glass. The clientele ranges from younger to older generations so a good atmosphere pervades the spaces. The kitchen is run by a chef once (still? connected with a fine dining restaurant in Göttingen. The menu is diverse though appropriately small, with quality first and foremost. Quantities are small to medium (but not tapas style , but you won 't go hungry, especially as you can order again and again. As a cultural institution it exhibits the work of current, usually young artists in its exhibition space, stages plays in its small theatre and hosts musicians often jazz, or contemporary acoustic in a live setting. My wife and I always drop in when in Göttingen and look forward to our visit. Highly recommended.
