very nice staff, tasty eating, you think first, from the ton I should be fed, but then you are still very happy, great dishes, maybe a little spicier they could be View all feedback.
They have a large menu with various vegan options, but it was so easy to order “the vegan platter for 2” and out came plenty of injera (flat bread), 4 veggie dishes (okra, spinach, squash, lentils) and a potato and green bean mix too. Dju Dju beer served in a bowl was fun but not my favorite drink, wouldn’t order that again.
Serves various vegan options, all of them delicious. Usually served as a large plate of mixed dishes with traditional Ethiopian bread. The staff will explain you what is in every dish and which of them are hot/spicy. If you are lucky, you can witness a traditional coffee ceremony including roasting, brewing and serving. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and will also explain how to eat the food. (Pick the dish up with the bread. forks/knives are also available The place is small but cozy, you can sit outside (street side). I advise anyone to book a table at least one day in advance.
I've been there a couple of times and have always been excited. The Abessina serves inexpensive plates with different incredibly tasty vegan dishes. You usually eat them with injera (Ethiopian flatbread), couscous and rice. I would also recommend the different fruit flavored beers which are served in a bowl. Also the staff is really friendly and makes you feel welcome and home. It's a pitty they serve meat, because I would really like to give a rating of 5.
