Wok Express - Gloucester
Wok Express
Description
Despite some mixed reviews, this Chinese restaurant offers delicious food with good portions. However, a lack of service and hygiene in some instances has left customers cautious. Some have experienced poor service and long wait times when ordering takeaway, while others have enjoyed fast delivery and tasty options. Although there have been instances of undercooked food and poor customer service, many customers still find the food to be flavorful and satisfying. Overall, while some caution is advised, this restaurant may still be worth a visit for those looking for a decent Chinese takeout option.

Tonight, I ordered the Beef with Ginger Spring Onions and was extremely disappointed. The dish was filled with large, burning chunks of undercooked ginger, tough and dry beef, and slimy vegetables in a lackluster sauce. The Young Chow Rice, which used to be a favorite of mine, now tastes like bland, microwavable sachet rice with undercooked, lumpy grains and flavorless bits of chicken, meat, and tiny shrimp. It was truly terrible. Even my husband, who usually eats anything, was not interested in trying anything from our order this time. As a last resort, I ordered some Crispy Won Tons, which turned out to be stale and chewy from being refried from a previous day. This will be our last order from Wok Express - it's just not worth the money.
I waited in the restaurant for 15 minutes without being served or acknowledged. When the server finally noticed me, she informed me that they had actually stopped taking orders 5 minutes ago, even though I had been there for 15 minutes already.
I've used this place before on just eat app. Decent chow mein deal. But this time the chicken balls were doughy and the whole deal was lukewarm. I'll be picking up or using the Churchdown Chinese next time.
Yum food at not a ridiculous price point. I use it as my local and will be ordering from there again many more times!
