Description

The Blue Comet, once a beloved Glenside gem, has undergone a significant transformation, now resembling a typical sports bar that leaves many nostalgic patrons disappointed. While some appreciate the bright ambiance and attentive service, the menu and atmosphere feel mundane and uninspired compared to its former charm. Despite mixed reviews on food quality and pricing, the restaurant does hold potential with a cozy outdoor seating area and friendly staff. For those seeking classic comfort food and well-crafted drinks, the Blue Comet might still be worth a visit. However, it might not recapture the unique allure it once had.

Fairly clean, cozy/intimate location. Lots of selection. It was my first time there, met a friend for a beer. The first drink my friend got was not to her liking, so the waitress took it back. At the end of the hangout the waitress still charged us for the $10 drink which we didn't drink. The alternative was for HER to eat the cost, which was not fair to her as a service worker. And the waitress never even tried to ask the manager about what to do. So we (customers) ended up paying $10 for a drink we never drank. It kinda hurts, very off-putting, and I don't think I'll be going back to Blue Comet. However it's still a decent spot, as long as you know what you want and don't refuse any drink/food. Just drink it, even if you risk a DUI ‍

The Comet was one of my favorite spots for years, would go back to Glenside just for this low-key, slightly off-center place. Always knew how to prepare my favorite New York Sour, had a playlist I enjoyed every song and only knew about a quarter of them, and always had someone interesting sitting just down the bar.Went there one night after work last week after it's recent re-opening and it's definitely lost it's magic. Bright lighting, a super nice bartender who didn't know what a New York Sour was, and a gaggle of bros hogging bar space. Definitely disappointed like an old punk sold out and went corporate. Maybe it was just that night?

Wife and I came in on one of our first blissful, childless evenings in nearly two years. It was worth it. We had some refreshing (read: tasty and strong) cocktails followed by easily the best fried chicken sandwich I’ve had in years. My wife’s smash burger was perfectly cooked, and the fries were crispy, hot, and well seasoned. You want local bar vibes and some of the best food/drinks in the ‘burbs? Go here.
