Blue Comet Grill - Glenside
Blue Comet Grill
Description
The Blue Comet, once a beloved Glenside gem, has undergone a significant transformation, now resembling a typical sports bar that leaves many nostalgic patrons disappointed. While some appreciate the bright ambiance and attentive service, the menu and atmosphere feel mundane and uninspired compared to its former charm. Despite mixed reviews on food quality and pricing, the restaurant does hold potential with a cozy outdoor seating area and friendly staff. For those seeking classic comfort food and well-crafted drinks, the Blue Comet might still be worth a visit. However, it might not recapture the unique allure it once had.

The Comet has closed down, and in its place is a typical sports bar. It's alright, I suppose, but overall it's quite mediocre.
This is no longer the Blue Comet. They removed everything that was special about it and turned it into the most mundane, mediocre concept possible: a sports bar. If you go there, thinking to find the kitschy throwback fun place it had been, you’ll be vastly disappointed. If you’re looking for boring with lifeless unimaginative decor and food with all the usual sports stuff, today is your lucky day. Enjoy a burger you could get pretty much anywhere with a too loud sports game on tv.
The experience was average. The bartender could use a bit more experience when it comes to making drinks; adding too much soda and barely a half shot of alcohol is not ideal. The order of adding alcohol before the mixers is important. The drinks were decent, but not impressive.
Fairly clean, cozy/intimate location. Lots of selection. It was my first time there, met a friend for a beer. The first drink my friend got was not to her liking, so the waitress took it back. At the end of the hangout the waitress still charged us for the $10 drink which we didn't drink. The alternative was for HER to eat the cost, which was not fair to her as a service worker. And the waitress never even tried to ask the manager about what to do. So we (customers) ended up paying $10 for a drink we never drank. It kinda hurts, very off-putting, and I don't think I'll be going back to Blue Comet. However it's still a decent spot, as long as you know what you want and don't refuse any drink/food. Just drink it, even if you risk a DUI
