What Anonym dislikes about Tommy Ruff:
we are native in the elsternwick filiale trying to get a table, but was full (fair enough) the manager/maintenance seemed really overwhelmed. when I asked if we could order a farewell instead, it seemed really annoyed that it was even an option. ordered takeaway and sat next to the counter where the main wait was personal person. waits for more than 20 minutes and turns out that our eating on the counter sat cold all... The grilled barramundi was delicious, but the standout for me was the salad. It's the main reason I keep returning to this place every time I drive past the area. It's easy to find a good seafood dish, but with a side salad that is as flavorful and generously portioned as this one, it's a rare find.
Overall rating: 21/25 Summary: Melbourne's top fish and chips Review: Every dish at Tommy Ruff is exceptional. The chef's tackle box, our go-to, always delivers with delicious calamari, prawns, fish, and perfectly fried chips. Today, we splurged on the chef's platter for 2 and were not disappointed. The portions were generous and worth every penny, although combining it with the standard fish and chips may lead to an excess of fries. The platter featured a variety of seafood, including standout fried anchovies, teriyaki salmon, and fresh oysters. The fish burger and tacos cooled off quickly, so eating strategically is key. The pear cider was a refreshing summertime treat. It's no wonder there's always a line at Tommy Ruff - it's my favorite seafood spot in Melbourne. Taste: Ambience: Presentation: Price: Service:
Easily one of my top recommendation when anyone asks where to get good quality seafood. The price is higher than most fish and chip shops as they've built quite a big, positive reputation but for the quality, it's worth paying for. <br/ <br/ We got two of the towers, which EASILY fed 6 people. Everything was cooked well and there was a good mix of grilled, fresh and fried seafood on there. <br/ <br/ Lovely staff, great presentation and taste. Would definitely come back.
Was so looking forward to eating at Tommy Ruff and they did not disappoint The service was lovely, the atmosphere was vibrant and our meals were DELICIOUS Ample serving sizes too which is a major WIN thanks so much
This is my favourite restaurant for seafood. The service is always friendly and the food delicious.I always order the fish wings when I am there: They are insanely delicious! The spice rub they use is so tasty and the fish is cooked tender and perfectly inside and is crispy on the outside. Love it! The chips are crunchy on the outside ans soft on the inside. The ocean trout dish they have on special at the moment with rice and veggies is beautiful. I wish they make it permanent. The fish tacos had huge chunks of perfectly cooked fish in it. Always a great meal when we visit. Highly recommended!
