Simple, rustic, book, busy, pizzas, calzone, yummy mains, atmosphere ... but all underlined by great food and terrific friendly service. Small is beautiful. Try it. BYO for you wine and beer persons. View all feedback.
What Americo Bauch doesn't like about Pastabella:
So we rocked up on a wet Saturday night and were seated in the outdoor area. Very cute and chintzy. We started with a shared Bruschetta and can safely say it was the best we have ever tasted. Then ordered seafood linguini from the specials...menu and a prawn linguini dish from the main menu. The pasta was amazing but I’m afraid there was little to no sauce, so much so I actually wondered if they may have actually for... View all feedback.
We have been going to PastaBella for about 5 years now and it’s THE BEST pasta you will ever eat in your life. Tonight I had a gnocchi with Gorgonzola sauce with crushed roasted pine nuts that was unbelieveable, my husband had the fettuccine marinara...with garlic/ olive oil that is what he has been having for years and is still unbeatable! Our last trip to Italy we said how amazing that PastaBella down the road from our house was better than what we were having there! Best pasta in Sydney, hands down!
I have enjoyed a quiet meal here before. I arrived at 1800hrs, and checked if they were open. The owner said yes and directed me to a table. Water arrived promptly. I immediately ordered spaghetti bolognese. For a period of time there seemed to be...no-one preparing food. A couple received coffee. Many others arrived. orders taken. Final straw during my hour long wait was a table of 6, who arrived 40 minutes after me was served their pasta before me. Obviously at 1800 they actually weren't open. No-one recognized my food wasn't coming. The wait staff should have at least recognized something was amiss when I went out to the car to top up the parking. Don't make my mistake of assuming competence or care of customers. I should gave got up and ranted about my lack of food. However I was tired and pretty grumpy and that is never a good combination. The image is of my parking payments.
It's a shame writing this review, as we've eaten here before and the food is absolutely delicious. My boyfriend and I had an hour before we had to leave for a movie, and figured this would be enough time for two mains. The waitress took...us through, and at first tried to seat us at a table with another couple, despite there still being plenty of empty tables. We asked for our own table, and she seated us, but forgot to give us menus; a simple enough mistake . We asked another waitress who was passing by for menus, and quickly decided on our order since we only had an hour. When we tried to indicate that we were ready to order, the first waitress eventually came over to us, honestly looking quite confused that we were trying to get her attention. We clarified that we would like to order, and started placing our orders with her. My boyfriend ordered the steak, and waited to be asked how he would like it cooked. The question never came. He eventually clarified that he would like it cooked medium. We had given her our food orders and were deciding on drinks, when the other waitress needed her help with a table number some sort of mix up with the dish she was carrying. She turned away in the middle taking our order, without as much as an acknowledgement or an I'll be right back let alone an apology. We had decided not to order any drinks, but assumed she would come back to check after helping her colleague we were wrong. A few minutes later she walked back into the restaurant, straight past our table, once again without any kind of acknowledgement. We assumed, once again, that she wouldn't forget about the order she had just written down and would put our ticket into the kitchen. Once again, we were wrong. It's also worth noting that although this was all around 8pm on a Saturday, the restaurant was far from packed, and no one mentioned that there might be any kind of delay on food due to a busy kitchen. Another 20 minutes went by, and we decided to check on how long our food would be, as we were starting to be pressed for time. I asked the second waitress, who was passing by, if she could check how long it would be, as we needed to leave at 9pm. She came back looking very unsure, but said that it would be maybe another ten minutes. We decided to call it at that point, because it would not be enough time. We suspected that our ticket had never been put into the kitchen, and our suspicions were confirmed when leaving. You walk by the kitchen on the way in and out of dining, and by the sounds of the confused conversation between the chef and the waitress, he had never received the ticket. This is a real shame, because we know how good the food is. We probably would have stayed if we had more time, but regardless the service was extremely poor, disorganised and frankly, quite rude. The owners should either spend more time training their waitstaff, or more money on more experienced staff.

Had dinner here the other night the pasta was delicious and the pizza looked fabulous. The staff were great as well, might have to take Hubby there soon!
