Big pub, great staff, nice eating and a beautiful buster the dog!

A fine independent pub, whose special feature is welcoming customers to bring take-away meals in, even providing crockery and cutlery, and selling Old Rosie real cider. Buster, the resident spaniel has suffered a stroke and has cancer, but is still on his paws, if a bit unstedily.

Lovely landlady and beer good with loads of character but a bit tired. The pub is in need of decoration to make it more welcoming.

This is a fantastic local pub with well-maintained beer and a friendly atmosphere. You can order food in advance and enjoy it on-site. Please note that they only accept cash.

This pub offers authentic local ales and has a landlord who really knows how to run the place. I was pleasantly surprised to find bitter from Lancashire on tap. It's a refreshing change from the chain pubs in the city center. If you're looking for a proper pint, this is the place to go.
