We tried the seasonal seafood enchilada, the bark burrito, and the bare chicken burrito. The portion sizes were generous, the prices were reasonable, and the flavors were outstanding. The food is hearty and comforting, reminiscent of Tex-Mex but with a unique twist since it's not actually from Texas (I can’t recall the exact region, but they incorporate olives and tomatoes in the burritos, giving them a lighter feel... What User doesn't like about Surfin' Taco:
If I could rate our experience at Surfin Taco a zero I would. This place is one of the rudest restaurants I have ever been to. Do not take your children as they are not very child friendly, one of the staff members thought she had the right to tear strips off a 7 year old. Very disappointed as it was a birthday celebration and this put a big damper on the night. This place was very difficult to deal with from the mom... View all feedback.
The margaritas were outstanding—possibly the best I've ever had. The tacos were less impressive, but the dishes at other tables looked fantastic and generous in portion. This lively little spot is a lot of fun, with the owner taking on multiple roles as server, cocktail mixer, and busboy. It's definitely worth a visit, especially just to enjoy a couple of margaritas!
We had a fantastic meal at a great price! We tried the seafood enchiladas, chicken enchiladas, and some kids' quesadillas. The service was very friendly and welcoming. Our total bill was only $20 per person, including drinks!

The margaritas were excellent as well. I highly recommend this place!
Cool Authentic Mexican Kai in Gisborne. Enter thru a plain facade into a little Mexico away from Mexico. Delicious food prepared by the owner accompanied by a choice of Mexican beverages. In November 2020 opening hours are Wed Sat. Prices are reasonable so why not pay them a visit!!!
The food is really good, they serve Baja California Mexican style. But we went like three times to try to have dinner there, and the owner said to us that they didn’t have space when we can see empty tables, I don’t know why. Finally we can ate there but the owner was kind of rude and weird. The margarita is too expensive for small size that is.
