El Oasis - Girardot

Very cool nightclub, good staff, nice people and close to the hotel

Not really sure if they make food here (please ask! but this place is a big open air nightclub in Girardot on the shopping center El Oasis. It is the largest and most popular nightclub in Girardot. Has an entrance fee of $20,000 (10 USD and drinks are cheapest for a popular club in a tourist location. About $90,000 for a decent bottle of white wine or about $12,000 for a bottle of beer. The music was a mix between Latin Salsa and Western Club music. So a little for everyone really. Was fun and had a great night. The other people at the club were mainly people who enjoy a weekend away from Bogota. The club is expensive according to Colombian standards, so the clientele tends to be good from Colombia from Bogota. I was told by a friend that the service was very bad, and that turned out to be true. A few slow obese male waiters (our looked like a Latin version of the singer of Smashmouth bumble around the club, so best to order a few bottles at a time and order more before you run out. When the club packed, it took 20 minutes to get more wine and beer. The club is very safe and although we were the only foreigners there, we had a great time, especially when we drew the curiosity of the Colombian girls! The neighbor in the club is okay, but you didn't want to go too far. The best advice is to arrive by taxi and drive by taxi. Of course with this being Colombia try not to get into a taxi from itself and never a taxi with someone who already accompanies the driver in the passenger seat. On weekends don't come at 10 a.m. or the club will be empty. We arrived at 8 a.m. and sat in an abandoned club for two hours, although this gave us time to get some serious drinks (approves the very slow service when we were the only ones in the club! Even since the club is open air when it rains you will get wet! There are a few terrace screens, but nothing to keep you dry. There is also a large sitting and dancing area in a flat pool! So come in sandals if you want to sit. A funny evening.

Good atmosphere and the roof makes it a very unique location. I came alone and easily met other nice people and great dancers all enjoying local and international music.
