When I lived in Gießen during my training days, I often go to an evening... read more For me, the stem pub in Gießen. I'm sure you've been there regularly for over 12 years. When I lived in Gießen during my training days, I often go to an evening beer with my best mate. The interior is stylish, unpleasant and unique in its shape. Peter (the man behind Thresen is a real original with a moving life story. It always serves the most delicious things with a dry spice on the lips. Whisky and beer fans are here at their expense. Everything is very old-fashioned and you have the feeling that time has stopped there. Only that you can smoke there is great. However, Pete attaches value to a minimum of behavior. If you're too loud, he'll tell you, and the next time he'll accompany you politely, but surely to the door. You're welcome. The fact that he is almost 80 and that still makes every day is impressive. I'm afraid of the day that this unique and legendary institution no longer exists. I remember going back there; I ask Pete to greet and hope that he and the Ascot will stay for many years.

When I lived in Gießen during my training days, I often go with my best mate to an evening beer. The interior is stylish, uncomfortable and also unique in its shape. Everything is very oldschool and you have the feeling that time has stopped there. Only that you can smoke there is great. Pete, however, attaches value to a minimum of behavior. Super ambience, nice company and best: the Guinness is 1A. The owner is not Everyone's Cup of tea but basically a great guy. The host is a real pouring original, it is wonderful and lovingly grumpy, and has the heart always on the right spot. The Ascot has by far the best choice of whiskeys in the wide circle. Among them are many fantastic rarities from Scotland to Japan. In addition to Guinness and the usual beers, there are changing beer specialities such as IPA or other craft beers. The ascot is very cozy and particularly noteworthy that you can always enjoy normal volume. The services are very friendly and fast. The atmosphere of an English pub is wonderfully supported by the great collection of historical, partly very large, enamel signs on the walls. Otherwise, the ascot is very lovingly decorated and cozy. Unfortunately, there are no 10 points here that the Ascot deserves. But very clear 5 points!

However, if the host asks you because you laugh to be a little quieter and instead of paying attention to the empty glasses again.... it's a huge thing going wrong. Grade if the pub is almost empty on Saturday night....you can also bury yourself by yourself.

Although it is a smoker pub, the Ascot is on the best way to become my favorite pig in pouring. A bit from the loud party mutilated in Ludwigstraße, you can settle in a rustic, cozy atmosphere and enjoy a guilt, a whisky or a delicious Apple Cider. Together with dice and armchairs as well as the lightly illuminated atmosphere, a very great atmosphere is created. Directly at the entrance are maps, games, etc. ready what is really great. It's a pity that the ascot has only opened from 8:00 to 1:00.
