What D Smith dislikes about 1863:
Good food, but extremely expensive. Horrible service based on two encounters. Unfriendly and unhelpful staff. Absolutely do not go out of your way to go here. And if you’re staying at the Wyndham, you would be best served by driving somewhere else. Food: 4 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3 View all feedback.

We were staying at this Wyndham so we had a dinner and breakfast here. The ambience in this restaurant is very quiet and calm. They have nice windows so it's open and airy and they also have these nooks which are nice if a group wanted a bit of privacy. Sadly, I found the food to be a bit lacking. I had a chicken caprese sandwich for dinner and it was dry and the cheese was like plastic. For breakfast I had a veggie fritatta that was ok and the breakfast potatoes were unevenly cooked. Husband had ham and eggs and his ham was a little chewy. The staff at the restaurant are very friendly and I would return just because it was so relaxing!
This restaurant is not the high end glamorous restaurant it once was. The menu is pretty basic with only a handful of dinners. If you want over priced chicken strips or a sandwich they have that. However, the bar is nice and the bartender makes a good drink. So if you are in the hotel and don’t want to drive out this is an option. Not many of our hotels have dining options in Gettysburg. Eat at the bar for a better experience even if the food isn’t stellar.
Years ago this was the the place to go for a romantic dinner or a special occasion. The price reflected the quality and it was special. It was worth every penny. Emphasis on was. We made reservations in advance for Valentines. We waited in the...
The hostess acts like she is scared of everyone. I said I would take three waters, motioning to myself and my two children. She asked the table if we wanted all water then and my mother-in-law answered yes. She only brought the three for myself and the kids because she said I had only asked for three. Well yeah, I was ordering for myself and my children... Not the other adult at the table who she also asked? We didn't even see a server anywhere in the restaurant for 10 mins (like not even at a nearby table) and had to go ask for her. The server didn't write our order down, which is a pet peeve of mine because now I have to trust you to remember our order. As if to prove a point, she forgot part of the order and had to come back and ask. When she brought the food, we asked for condiments. Waited five minutes and then got up and asked for them from the hostess because our food was getting cold. The eggs, which my mother-in-law asked for ketchup for (gross, I know) were already cold to begin with. I definitely would recommend going somewhere else if you are staying here. It looks nice but it is like it's ran by confused children.
Gettysburg was our last stop on our 2 week summer road trip. We’ve eaten at restaurants with 5 star reviews on our trip but honestly the food we ordered and took back to our room from here was some of the best. The burger was thick and cooked perfectly! Fish tacos great flavor and my son loved his wings. Wait staff was very helpful and packed my to-go great with all the fixings.
Nestled within a hotel, this restaurant has garnered mixed reviews from patrons, with opinions on food, service, and atmosphere varying widely. While some diners rave about exceptional dishes like the Calamari and Filet, praising fresh ingredients and meticulous presentation, others find the food overpriced and service lacking. Notable server experiences highlight excellence, with staff members showcasing professionalism and warmth, while inconsistent service leaves some disappointed. Despite its prime location, many suggest exploring dining options outside the hotel to enhance the culinary experience. For a blend of history and flavor, it’s recommended to visit, particularly during quieter times for a more enjoyable meal.

The restaurant is currently closed as they are unable to find a chef. The Google and website information needs to be updated.
The food at this restaurant is average at best and extremely overpriced, especially the crab cakes. The bartenders struggle to make a decent drink. I suggest sticking to beer, as they can't really mess that up.
The restaurant was very aesthetically pleasing, but our experience was not as great as we had hoped. I had made a reservation a week in advance, but when we arrived, they did not have it on record. Luckily, they were able to accommodate us. It seemed like there was a large group in another section, which may have affected the kitchen's efficiency. We both ordered our steaks cooked the same way, but unfortunately they were cooked differently. I would probably return during a quieter time.
The food here is outstanding. We went for the Thanksgiving Buffet. It did not disappoint.

The restaurant offers excellent service and delicious food. It is located within a hotel. The food quality, service, and atmosphere all receive a high rating of 5.
This restaurant, located conveniently within the hotel, offers good food and excellent service. The dinner menu ranges in price from $20 to $30 per person. The food is rated 4 out of 5, the service a perfect 5, and the atmosphere a 4. Highly recommended dishes include the Calamari and the Fish and Chips.

This restaurant is mediocre, with food that is just okay, but far from great. I normally wouldn't write a review for an experience as bland as this, but Google Maps suggested it to me while I was in Gettysburg. I regret not going somewhere else instead. The issue is not so much the quality, which is low but passable. The real problem is the lack of uniqueness in this restaurant, clearly designed by a team of specialists focused on creating a generic dining experience for the masses. It's an acceptable choice if you're staying at the hotel and don't have other options, but I would not recommend it otherwise. Vegetarian options are limited to a disappointing vegan burger, a few salads, and an afterthought.
