Grandma and G... read more What can one say about the Kramerwirt? In Germering, actually located in the district of Unterpfaffenhofen, it 's certainly the oldest restaurant. Grandma and Grandpa got married here before or during World War II. Here, mourners gather for funeral repasts. Numerous proprietors have run the establishment with varying degrees of success since then. For some time now, a Croatian family has been at the helm. Accordingly, the menu ranges from traditional German fare to Balkan cuisine. The new proprietor is very dedicated; everything is freshly prepared. Unfortunately, this does mean a bit of a wait. In other words, if several dishes are ordered at the table, they are sometimes served at quite different times. So please don 't wait until everything is on the table; start eating as soon as you have your plate. The reward, in my case, is wild garlic spaetzle or Kaiserschmarrn, just like Mom used to make. I mean: excellent! It 's like sitting in a pub, somewhere. The lighting could use a bit of a dusting off (a tip for the owner). The view of the chandeliers, some of them quite amusing, reminded me of Robert Louis Stevenson 's novel Treasure Island, specifically the inn The Admiral Benbow described therein. But it 's wonderful that this place is still around, and hopefully will be for a long time to come. Take your time and enjoy your meal.
