We were very fortunate in the middle of winter with almost no tourists whatsoever in the city that our cab driver was a local and knew the Proprietors of this r... read more We were very fortunate in the middle of winter with almost no tourists whatsoever in the city that our cab driver was a local and knew the Proprietors of this restaurant and made sure that they would open for us which was a special honor. The waiter recommended a fantastic Rose and an amazing hot pasta and served us some chili peppers from Calabria which were amazing. Perhaps my experience was somewhat unique because my ancestors come from here and this was a bit of an emotional homecoming for me, so I cannot speak to the experience of others who may not be of Italian ancestry, but my girlfriend and I were welcomed as returning natives with great celebration and joy. And in any case no matter who you are the food here is spectacular. We had the pork chop which was extremely fresh and the tomato salad which was stunning, and, as I said, a local pasta with a tomato sauce which was amazing, and the bread was fantastic and the entire experience was beyond expression in excellence and intimacy and professionalism.
