Golden Rule - Georgetown

My husband and I have always been big fans of Golden Rule. Yes, it was quite busy when we visited. However, I can't honestly give an Outstanding rating this time, mainly because of the Beef Stroganoff. We ordered this dish, as we usually do, and while it was good, it was not Beef Stroganoff. It seemed they had run out of the wide noodles and sauce, so it was served with angel hair pasta and a different sauce. As I mentioned, it was tasty, but it just wasn't Beef Stroganoff. I would prefer if you simply took it off the menu when it's unavailable instead of trying to improvise. Alternatively, it would be better to call it something else, like, "We're out of the Beef Stroganoff tonight, but we have a wonderful steak with angel hair pasta!"

I was glad I made a reservation, we went on a Saturday at 5:30 pm and it was already pretty busy and the inside is fairly small so makes sense to reserve a table. The food was fabulous, we had the deviled eggs and Steak frites. I wasn't in love with the relish on the deviled eggs, but I am not a fan of sweet pickles. Otherwise great steak, and great drinks.

Stellar. Every time. Good service shouldn't be hard to deliver but post-Covid, it is n many places. Not so at Golden Rule. They are wonderful, welcoming every time. And that smashed potato soup and beet salad today?! OMG, get both. Thanks, Tommy and Co. For the great experience once again.

One of our favorites in Georgetown! Hope they have heaters so we can enjoy the outdoor dining option as weather cools.

It was a Friday night which I realize is a big night for dining out. The noise level was horrible. We had to shout across the table to have a conversation. Our waitress had to bend down to hear our orders. Food was average and the special was not very good at all. Not worth the money. I don't believe I will go back.
