What Hugo Prado Barroso dislikes about Du Progres:
The food is very expensive for what it is. To put it into perspective, two croquettes are worth €20.... The waitress served us without enthusiasm, in fact she threw water on our cell phone and didn't bother to clean it, when we finished eating and picked up the plates she threw the fork with sauce on us over the coat, and we had to tell him to get something to clean it since he didn't seem fazed or bothered by it. We received a warm welcome at this restaurant. The staff was very attentive, especially with our young children. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. The atmosphere was pleasant, with everything looking new and clean. Overall, we had a wonderful time. I would rate the service, food, and atmosphere a 5 out of 5. I recommend trying the Vol-au-vent dish. Dinner cost between €20-30 per person.

Very friendly staff with attention to children, funny pressure. The food was top, we're definitely going back.
Okay. Good quality for a payable price. Our Valentine's Day came to us pretty well. .. But we've known this a long time because we're coming. It stays if we stay carefully congratulated to Mr. The sheets for his good cause.
I stopped by yesterday. Pretty busy. Good meat! My wife took a spaghetti. Very friendly service, even if they hadn't seen everything they took on annual leave. I'll be back here.

Attentive raft service with the eternal smile. Nice dishes with soup before. A frequent restaurant to visit regularly.

On (pressure) afternoon, a nice steak James Bond ate. Full fries, mayonnaise in there... just a slap was missed...

The best carbonnade I ate, the meat was so tender! The waiters, the atmosphere were great despite our English poor, they adapted well. Report/quality price on top! A must do if you go to Ghent : Be careful to book, even if it was in Dutch it is intuitive enough
We ate there on February 23, 2022, and what a pleasure!!! Nice staff, neat decoration, cleanliness of the premises. We've been enjoying ourselves. We wanted a nice piece of meat and we were very satisfied! I’ll go back without a problem and recommend this restaurant.
Very good restaurant. Very good value for money. Careful toddler. With the evening fraicher, he brings us a plaid. Flemish carbonnade is delicious and copied. We recommend 100.

Staff in a very friendly room. We ate very well whether the homemade pasta, the Flemish carbonnade and the studs. We will recommend the address without hesitation to our friends.

This restaurant was recommended by our walking tour guide. She said it had very good flemish stew. That is exactly what I ordered. It did not disappointed....

I was told, albeit too late, that the place went downhill in the last years. The menu lists local cuisine but in reality it’s a cafeteria food sold at gourmet restaurant prices. I ordered Flemish stew described as “pork cheeks made with Westmalle beer Tierenteyn mustard”. Instead I was served primitive and tasteless beef stew with a a couple of green leaves. The owner came owner and begin swearing that it was pork. It wasn’t. He became very agitated and gave some bogus excuse. My wife ordered Val-au-vent. They brought a small pot with processed meat balls and a piece of cheese bread on top. When I showed the owner the picture of the dish, he proclaimed that that’s proprietary restaurant recipe and their Val-au-vent is not like others. Of course not and it tasted like cardboard. Du progres restaurant is a tourist trap and you should not patronize it. I know I never will. Yuck!
A tourist trap with high prices, awful tasteless food, primitive cafeteria cuisine, and lying and cheating administrator. Avoid! There are much better and cheaper places in Ghent
Trying the Waterzooi was a must after learning that it is a staple dish in Ghent. No exaggeration when I say this was the best dish that I had in the whole of 2024. I savored every bit and flavor of that stew and hope I am able to re-live the experience in the foreseeable future!
